1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Ginormous scrap wool blanket! on: August 22, 2010 10:27:28 PM
Hello there.

I made my boyfriend a blanket for Giftmas last year, and I never got around to taking pictures until just now. I had a large amount of left over wool accumulated from my grandma and my mom, and I have never really made a large project of my own.

However, I was short on monetary funds so I just started knitting. I knit random squares with no real pattern in mind. I only used about 3/4 of the squares I knit, so I am sure I will eventually have enough wool to make another one of these blankets.

I bought the black wool for the borders and the stitching which kind of gave it a stained glass look. It's misshapen due to the random square size, but its HUGE and super comfy/warm.

Hope you enjoy Smiley Please, feel free to comment!

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Pyoro bird sprite blanket is finally complete! (character from Wario Ware) on: August 22, 2010 06:26:24 PM
I originally posted this in the Crochet a long (Granny a month for August), but I realized that unless people were following the CAL no one would see it. So I've posted it here. If this is against any rules, let me know and I will remove it Smiley Thanks, Kate.

*drum roll please*

This is the bird I was making, he goes by the name Pyoro and he is from a Wario Ware game called Birds and Beans Smiley He's absolutely adorable, and I was making a blanket for my boyfriend Marc's brother Ryan. I knew he loved Pyoro, but I suspect he might love the blanket even more.

I used all Red Heart, since I was on a two-month road trip with my boyfriend. We traveled 16, 000km (or 10, 000 mi) this summer, and have seen every state except 12 and 7 provinces. So, I had a lot of free time, and had to ensure that the yarn I chose would be universally available. I used a 6.00mm hook.

Now, here are some action shots (I just noticed that I didn't attach one of the yellow squares on the beak, but I really wanted to show you guys I did it!) It will be fixed in a matter of minutes!

Size comparison to the new ridiculously large DSiXL

Now, I will show you the sprite I used:

So, I guess now I have a few days to let my fingers and wrists recover from the insane amount of crocheting I feel like I've done the last month. See you next month, hookers!
