1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Anyone know of a pattern/tutorial or have any tips on making a hooded dress? on: April 25, 2013 09:52:26 PM
Would very much like to make a hooded dress...
Large hooded, almost elf-like but not cheesy... more post apocalyptic, desert punk style..

A couple references:

Just not sure where to start and how to go about a big, cowl-like hood...
Any suggestions/ inspirations?

Have never made a dress from scratch before..
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Need help with scorched fabric flowers ? on: August 12, 2011 05:21:52 PM
I've been trying to make those scorched fabric flowers (multiple layers of circular fabric sewn on top of each other) but I'm not sure if I'm doing right.

The sides of the fabric are suppose to curl- but when I do it this barely seems to be so. They usually catch on fire and maybe curl slightly but not noticeably. Am I doing something wrong? Are you suppose to use certain fabrics? Or is the curl suppose to be that subtle?

So far I've been mostly just been using cotten/old t-shirts, etc. etc.
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / How to decoupage manaquins? Please help. on: April 20, 2011 04:21:18 PM
I need to decoupage old vintage manaquins for my moms boutique. Here's a picture of what she wants:

Does anyone have any idea how to acheive this look? We thought of butcher paper or brown paper bag.. but it could be something painted onto the manaquins?

They have to look profesional and were willing to pay for good materials to get the look.

Please help
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Post Apocalyptic Fashion Tutorials? on: January 31, 2011 03:49:16 PM

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Anyone familiar with Brother sewing machine models? on: October 03, 2010 03:06:31 PM
I've found three brother models for a good price for sale in my community, which one would you say would be the most reliable for a beginner? There all 100$ or less and all say that they've been lightly or never used:

Brother VX809
Brother LS1520 21-stitch
Brother x-L5130

Thank you!
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Help me pick a good first sewing machine! on: September 24, 2010 09:55:21 AM
I'm extremely interested in buying my first sewing machine. I've sewed on one a couple times before, but pretty much I'm a beginner. I also barely have a job so I don't have a lot of money to splurge on the most amazing machine ever. Here's a couple that i've been looking at:

and some more:

I basicly only picked these ones out because of a cheap price, but I want to get the best as possible for as little money as possible. Someone please help,  any reconmendations?
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / What if you organize a swap and no one responds with interest? on: September 19, 2010 11:06:08 PM
There has been a topic on the new swap theme ideas board for a punk/crust/patch swap and it started of to be a private swap, but three people want to be involved and it got kinda confusing so I much rather just organize a public swap. But- what if I organize it and no one joins or only one or two other people join?
8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / How to Multi Layerd Stencil? on: August 20, 2010 10:49:06 AM
* Edit to remove image link that wasn't working *

I want to do this stencil on a shirt for my boyfriends birthday, but I'm not quite sure how to approach it.
I read the tutorial in the FAQ, but I still face a problem.

I have no idea how to layer a photo and I'm not at all comfortable with computer programs. Would anyone be willing to layer it for me or help me out?
And also once its layerd can I transfer all the layers onto freezer paper when stenciling?

 Help, suggestions, anything?
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / OTPS: One tiny pasties swap! on: August 17, 2010 12:10:13 AM
I know of some crafters who are already interested in the idea so im just throwing the idea out to others.
Im planning on organizing it at the end of september or beginning of october.

Swappers will be required to craft either one or two pairs of pasties for their partner, and the age requirement will probably be 16 or 17+

so, any more interest?
