1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Contest to win Zephyr knitting needles on: November 30, 2009 11:32:18 AM
Hi Everyone!
I'm in the middle of holiday gift crafting right now, but I'll have lots of things to show off after the holidays.  I just ran across this Knit Picks contest where they are giving away Zephyr knitting needles to whoever makes the "cutest craft".  Here is the link:  http://www.knitpicks.com/cfpromo/Zephyr_Contest.cfm   Maybe I can enter one of my Christmas presents and get a present for myself as well!  I thought that the people in the Craftster community might be interested in this contest, because you all make such cute and creative things!  Good luck and happy holidays!
2  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / Re: Every other Sunday, queer knitting and friends at Mabel's on: August 15, 2007 06:53:31 PM
Is this still going on?  I read on West Coast Crafty that the yarn store section of Mabel's is closing down, but the coffee shop will stay open.  I'm visiting Portland tomorrow actually (from San Diego) and I'm moving there in a month.  I work in a yarn store currently, and I'd like to find a queer knitting community when I move to town.
3  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / Re: Moving To Portland! on: July 19, 2007 12:49:28 PM
I'm going the same thing.  I am from northern California, I currently live in San Diego, and I'm moving to Portland in September when I finish college.  I have visited twice and there is a huge DIY community which isn't present in southern California.  Plus as a city planner (what I'm getting my degree in), I love their public transit, lack of sprawl, and comparably affordable housing.  But your list of 3 cities sounds just like mine.
4  California / California: South / Re: Los Angeles, CA - FELT CLUB: XL Summer, July 15 on: July 15, 2007 09:30:47 PM
Wow, Felt Club was so amazing and packed with people!  I had to drive from San Diego, so I arrived at 10:45 and the line had reached around 2 blocks and then back on itself.  Needless to say, I was not in the first 250 people.  The print Gocco workshop was really interesting (now I just need to find my own Gocco) and one vendor was spinning yarn on a wheel right at her booth.  I had conversations with strangers about very nerdy craft techniques and ate awesome vegan gelato next door.  Good stuff!

I like your scarf.  It's from Scarf Style, right?  I'm working on the same one.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: New fabric = Purses and pouches! on: March 02, 2006 05:56:31 PM
What site did you use to find the owl print and German fabrics?  They are so cute!  I am new to sewing, and I'm always disappointed with the fabric selection at the local fabric stores.  I also have an owl collection.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Hoodscarf! Scarfhood! on: November 23, 2005 02:20:17 AM
I love the hood/scarf idea.  I'm totally making one of those even though I'll look ridiculous in San Diego.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Toe-up socks on: November 15, 2005 09:10:10 PM
How did you finally understand the figure 8 cast on?  I've looked at several websites and I have the "Simple Socks:  Plain and Fancy" book, but I still can't cast on for toe up socks.  Very frustrating.

Wow, I need to make this.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Moulin Rouge Swap? on: October 21, 2005 11:58:34 PM
That sounds fantastic.  Moulin Rouge is my favorite movie and I'm trying to make a Victorian-inspired (instead of Kylie Minogue-inspired) green Absinthe fairy costume for Halloween.
