1  Knitted beads necklace in Knitting: Completed Projects by mercredi on: September 06, 2006 02:55:36 AM
I'm not sure whether I should post this in the knitting board or jewellery board... anyway, I made this knitted beads necklace, with inspiration from the Julie pattern (http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTjulie.html) in the Summer 06 issue of Knitty.

Since the ribbon wasn't going through the tiny holes of my beads, I used black yarn, and knotted it to the ribbon in the end.
Voila Smiley

2  Crystal earrings in Beads: Completed Projects by mercredi on: June 15, 2006 02:07:05 AM
I made these earrings from the ones i saw on a girl in the subway. They're made from golden string and clear crystal Swarovski beads (8 for each earring). Swarovski beads are kind of expensive but they give a nice glitter.

3  Pin-up coasters in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by mercredi on: June 14, 2006 11:05:10 AM
As i had a day-to-day pin-up calendar I didn't know what to do with, i made coasters:

I don't really know what it's used for, but at a craft store I found some cardboard sheets with foam on the inside. I used glue, and 3 layers of varnish to secure the coasters.
And everybody seem to appreciate them (especially the guys:))

4  Re:lip balm containers? in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by mercredi on: April 23, 2004 09:36:14 AM
i actually don't know if they exists every craftsterer's country, but since i'm in complete lack of lip balm containers, i've just thought about using the rounded containers containing the boxes in the Kinder eggs (but i haven't tried it yet).

5  peppermint citronella massage balm in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by mercredi on: April 21, 2004 08:18:06 AM
i made this balm for my sister after seeing it in a shop;
Here's the receipe :
- 4 tablespoons jojoba oil
- 4 tablespoons sweet almond oil
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon 1/2 shea butter
- 1 teaspoon beeswax
- 6 drops peppermint essential oil
- 6 drops citronella essential oil
melt everything but the EOs, then add them when it's cooled a bit, and put in a jar.

(as for the packaging, i'm in lack of jars so it's an old yoghourt jar with transparent film cover)

6  knitted scarf (which actually looks like crocheted) in Knitting: Completed Projects by mercredi on: February 05, 2004 04:54:14 AM
i like how crochet looks like, but i yet haven't tried it. so i found a way to do "as if". here's my scarf :

so for what i've found (but i'm not sure of the term), i've used the Yo Yarn over technique : as if you're creating a new stitch with passing the wool over your right needle. Otherwise, it's one row K, one row P.

here's the pattern :

i've used 7mm needles (the wool was supposed to be used with 3mm needles).
it's 24 stitches large, and almost one wool ball long.

the only problem is that, as you see on the picts, it tempts to turn on itself when you wear it. but it's nice anyway

7  absolut wall art in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by mercredi on: February 05, 2004 04:23:22 AM
so i had those absolute ads that i didn't knew what to do with, so i decided to put them on the upper side of the walls, all around the room (well i have a bit more than half of the room filled with)

they tempt to fall (since the wallpaper isn't good to stick things on), but my alcoolic friends are happy. and it's decorative.

8  Re:eye makeup remover? in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by mercredi on: January 22, 2004 04:42:27 AM
i have a receipe for eye makeup remover with parsley which is supposed to be good for the eyes (but i haven't tried it yet)
- make 40mL of water (or perfumed water) boil. but some clean branches of parsley in it and let it infuse.
- in a bowl, put 10mL of vegetal oil (corn seed for example), 30mL of olive oil, and a teaspoon of beeswax. put the bowl on water.
- when the beeswax is melted, incorporate the parsley infusion with it without stopping to whip it.
- when it's cold, put it in a little bottle.

- 2 or 3 days later, filter the product through a coffee or tea filter and put it in a clean bottle - it's better if the bottle is dark (better conservation).

- before using it, shake vigorously the bottle.

9  christmas tree decorations in Winter Holidays by mercredi on: January 03, 2004 11:53:49 AM
i know it's a little late, but anyway... here is my christmas tree :

the blue garland, the lights and the golden balls, those i bought in a thrift store for not much.
i also bought chocolate sardines (like those : http://www.roidebretagne.com/produit.asp?num=1634&pg=1), which are way funnier than chocolate santas.

i also made paper stars (instructions : http://www.howtomakestars.com/instructions.html, the 3D ones) which are simple but beautiful.

i also cut clementines in slices, and made them dry for about a week, before attaching them to the tree. they're not so pretty anymore, i'll throw them away with the tree but they smell good.

last, i found these little angel wings - i first wanted to make them, but i didn't found the time to. they're just too cute, and i think i'll try to make some more (maybe to offer) next year because it's just 6 white feathers, and some fluffy feathers-like which i don't know the name.

tadaa! on christmas, with candles everywhere and the presents, it looked good.

10  a cross between mittens and armwarmers in Knitting: Completed Projects by mercredi on: December 30, 2003 06:50:03 AM
since it is winter and that i'm not enough good knitter to make myself gloves or even real mittens, i've made myself those :

it's also economic since i used all the leftovers from previous projects (mostly were old whool from my mom, that's where the vintage and baby colors comes from).

it's 51 rows large (or any number which can be divided by 3) - from the elbows to the hand, but you can reduce since your wrist is smaller. of course you can decide to knit them less longer than mine.
the pattern is KNIT 1 PURL 2.

when you're fine with the height, stop knitting (it's now like a stripped rectangle). Sew one edge with the other (i realise it's not perfectly done on mines), except for a hole for your thumb - the hole tempts to get bigger, but you can still reduce it.

well in the end i'm wearing them almost everyday - of course if you're always cold it's not enough, but they're nice to wear.
