1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Mind the tentacles! on: March 03, 2010 01:16:25 PM
Hullo again! I have been crochet crazy lately haha. I saw some cute octopi while browing amigurumi pictures, and decided it would be a nice simple pattern to try and follow.

I used this pattern, and think I have the hang of following (simple) patterns hehe. The tentacles were tricky to get the placement and spacing correctly, but I absolutely adore him.

thanks for checking my lil fella out!

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Crochet Hook Roll on: March 03, 2010 11:10:22 AM
I recently got into crochet, and desperately needed something to hold my hooks, so I whipped this roll up for them using scraps from my fabric stash.

The green fabric is a bit thicker than I like, it rolls up thickly, and was a bit tough to sew through on the machine.

Don't mind my crooked stitches, I am still a novice in sewing, haha.

I picked up some cheap fabric to make a thinner one sometime later, but I still am rather proud of this one, so I wanted to share!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / My first Kanzashi! on: March 03, 2010 11:02:01 AM
I saw the beautiful flower tutorial on the top of this board, and just had to go and find out more about kanzashi. I came across a tutorial to make simple petals, and made this cute daisy. I quickly sewed it to a safety pin and pinned it to my purse, I bought some felt from the thrift store though so I'll attach the backs of future blooms better.

4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / My first foray into crocheting! Amigurumi Bear on: February 25, 2010 09:21:59 AM
And oh how fun. This is my first project here on craftsters.

Last night I decided I wanted to learn how to crochet, so I searched the internet, and after fumbling with the most basic stitches, found amigurumi and knew it was for me haha. I found a tutorial on how to make a mouse, which I made and promptly named Josephine. But this thread is for my (slightly foolish) decision to immediately afterwards make my own lil bear stuffed guy, with no pattern or guide.

Here he is! Still faceless, but I'm still deciding exactly how I want to go with his eyes, round shiny black buttons, or classic, or even just leave him faceless! I am torn. I think I shall leave him be while I decide. If I decide to put eyes on him I'll post an update here, I know you will all writhe in suspense!

Here is his back, I gave him a little tail. I am really very happy with how he came out, though I did learn a few things the hard way.

-decide on the face before stuffing him and attaching the body! haha, I only found out about safety eyes after i had him mostly put together.
-I need to be more patient with my increases/decreases. you can see some bubbling on the base of his head that I wish wasn't there
-count my stitches on his limbs more carefully. I completed one leg, then tried to make one to match, and had to redo it from about the halfway point 6 times or so, that was frustrating.

here he is with my mouse, thanks for any comments or advice!
