This is beautiful! I do think I would like to try my sewing skills by making a bag like this. The thrift store is an awesome treasure trove of recyclables.
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Homemade Laundry Soap ** With Tute! ** (picture heavy) on: May 17, 2010 08:55:28 PM
My first attempt at making this failed miserably. I followed your direction to read everything before attempting to make the soap and then promptly ran out and bought everything I needed (I used Ivory soap). Then I failed to re-read everything and just poured everything together in 4 cups of water and heated. I ended up with a soap brick that refused to dissolve =(. Learning from this failure I re-read everything. Then I read it again and followed your directions exactly. My soap is currently resting in the shower, and we will see how it went tomorrow morning =).

Thank you for the compliments! I liked how it come out almost plaid. I am working on getting pictures of my first scarf and loom project. I mailed it out to my sister before taking photos of it. Now that class is over I am working on putting together a loom following the lead of another craftster on the forum. We have some very creative craftsters here =).
5  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / Scarf in school colors, woven on a table loom on: May 13, 2010 09:45:24 PM
Hello, my name is Holly. After lurking the forums over a year plus a semester in a weaving class, here is my first project!
I needed one more project to finish the course. My high school colors are orange and black. Football games get cold. I put these facts together and arrived at the perfect solution: a scarf. I am sorry I do not have photos of the work in progress because I decided to post it after I completed it.

First, here is my handsome model showing off my work.

This is the front of the scarf.

Here is a close up of the details of the weaving.

This is the back of the scarf (it is not reversible).

A close up of the details of the weaving from the backside.

Finally, my model and I were both pooped from the photo session. Hope you enjoyed both my introductory post and my handsome model. I gave the scarf to my mother as a gift for the next football game. See ya next time.

This is the first dress like this I have seen! How totally cute! I love it. Did you have to do anything special to the ties before sewing them together?
