21  Re: Lady Eleanor Round 2? in Knitalongs by artteacher on: January 01, 2007 03:39:34 PM
Here's my 'never ending' Lady Eleanor... this is after 4 skeins of yarn and I had just added my 5th skein.

22  Re: Isabeau, small and quick... anyone game? in Knitalongs by artteacher on: December 25, 2006 03:52:32 PM
Here is the purse that I knitted for a friend's birthday.  I used some old cotton yarn (sort of a thick/thin type of yarn) that I had had around for many, many years and had never known what to use it for.

and I loved the fabric that I selected for the lining- it's 'ladies in swimsuits'..

I bought some wonderful yarn that I have wanted for months and months- finally decided to get it as my Christmas gift to myself.  I worked on figuring out the Lady Eleanor pattern last night- and this is how far I managed to get.  I also wanted to add that everyone was right- it's one of those things that looks way more complicated than it really is.  So, if you have any doubts.. just try it and you'll be happy with the results.

The first image is w/ a flash and the second one is natural, overcast, city smog light.  So, the real colors are probably a blend between both versions.

24  knitted and felted snowman ornament in Knitting: Completed Projects by artteacher on: December 04, 2006 05:22:53 AM
I knitted and felted a snowman ornament.  I wasn't sure if the white yarn would felt or not- but, I was happy to see that it did.  Cheesy

I just made it up- I don't know if you can tell or not- but, I sewed some small red glass seed beads on the hat brim for decoration.  I didn't have any small holly leaves or anything- but, it looked so plain without something on the hat.

25  Knit scarf knitted w/ yummy yarn in Knitting: Completed Projects by artteacher on: November 29, 2006 06:19:46 AM
Knitted with a basic lace pattern that I found in a book- but, I love how the yarn seems to be two colors at once.

26  Knitted/felted Christmas ornaments or pins for clothing in Knitting: Completed Projects by artteacher on: November 27, 2006 11:46:42 PM
I experimented this past weekend and made some simple Christmas gifts.  I made them to be lapel pins for clothing- but, they could just as easily be Christmas ornaments or tied onto packages.

I loosely knitted a tree shape out of green wool and added a brown trunk.  I felted one to see if I was on the right track-- size wise (you can tell that the prototype is a bit bigger in size Cheesy) and made a few more- felted them.. let them dry for 2 days.

I sewed and stitched trim and some bangles/beads and whatever I could find in my crafting supplies for the decorations.  I just happened to have a star shape for the top.. w/ a hole in the middle and I discovered that if I stitched the star on in every direction-- the stitching looked like another star.  They will have pins sewed on the back so they can be put onto coats or clothing.  If you need more help- just let me know- but, truthfully.. I just winged it and no matter what they all ended up looking about the same.

27  Re: An Awesome Cabled bag from Garnstudio! in Knitalongs by artteacher on: November 27, 2006 11:29:27 PM
I made the Cable bag for a Christmas gift.  The yarn is a purple-ish black/blue type of yummy wool/mohair blend.

I made 2 straps- one is just the garter stitch and the one on top is a cable stitch strap.  I laid the cabled one on top and every so often.. stitched it in place-so, it wouldn't move around while it was being used.  I sewed an inside pocket on the inside of the lining.  I have a magnetic clasp on the inside of the lining and a beautiful decorative button (that doesn't show how pretty it is in a photo) on both sides- so, that it looks good no matter which side is showing on the outside.

NOW, let's hope that I can put the photo in the message.  Cheesy

28  Baby cabled Jacket- now w/ a photo! Thanks for the person who fixed it! in Knitting: Completed Projects by artteacher on: October 20, 2006 02:14:12 AM
I knitted this for a co-worker's new baby.  I made it pretty big so that they baby would be able to wear it this winter.
*This is my first time to post a photo- just hope it works!  Cheesy  (If it doesn't can someone help me?  I did set up an account w/ Photo bucket and did follow the directions: upload image/etc.  Ok, crossing my fingers and holding my head just right in the hopes that this does work.)
