1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: being crafty with a non-crafty signifigant other on: April 02, 2007 03:07:52 PM
Honestly, I would be more than worried if my boyfriend of 3 years started getting all crafty for a few reasons.

Reason # 1 -  I would ask myself if he was bi or gay (sounds awful but this is what I would really think)?

Reason # 2 -  I want a boyfriend, not another girlfriend.

Reason # 3 - If my boyfriend was really really good at crafting, as in much better than me, I might give up my crafting out of intimidation all together = which would be awful.

Reason # 4 - I like crafting for my own enjoyment and pleasure, and I couldn't care less if my boyfriend wasn't praising my every creation & if I do need praise or criticism, I just post on craftster.

I hope this helps, and I hope you only do pinstriping because you think it's cool, not because your boyfriend does. This lesson, of not bending your personality and likes to match your significant other's, is one that took me a while to realize. I wasted so much time pretending to like music my ex-boyfriend(s) liked, or trying to make myself like video games, or baseball, I missed out on finding what I liked. I hope that helped... Smiley

If you were into playing the lotto and could never remember the numbers you pick every time, that would be a cute lotto number remembering bracelet.

Boys are like the lotto, you never know until you buy a ticket...

Holy Crap! I am in awe of this amazing dress! I think your creation looks a million times better than your inspiration anyways!

Wow! That looks even better than the one in this month's Vogue worn by that actress on this month's cover (Scarlette What's her face). How did you get to be so good?
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sear Kenmore Sewing Machine Trouble - please help on: March 21, 2007 04:47:35 AM
My bf's ex doesn't sew at all, and I am sure my Mom would fix it but I am too independent to bother her with this.

 - I was looking at the sewusa.com web site earlier and since my model is a 158.130, and they have the 15.1301/158.1302/158.1303. I am not clear what they difference is between them or even why there is an extra number at the end of the model number.

It is looking like I am going to take it into a shop to get serviced, and probably end up buying that owner's manual off of sew usa, as I did not find them on ebay. I am so eager to get sewing, I guess investing a little TLC into my machine will pay off in the long run. Thanks for your help Smiley
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Sear Kenmore Sewing Machine Trouble - please help on: March 20, 2007 06:58:04 PM
I am getting really frustrated by my sewing machine & and my lack of sewing machine general knowledge. My bf's ex wife gave it to me and I can't get it so work properly. First off - i don't even know the parts of the sewing machine and what they do. When I was younger, I could sew but if there was a problem, my Mom would just fix it for me - so any help in pointing out the different functions and parts would be greatly appreciated Smiley

Sears Kenmore

this end is off, and I can't adjust it to not seem stuck

what does this do?

what do all these parts do? I have no clue

I don't have an owner's manual, and would like to avoid paying 20 bucks for a copy = does anyone know where I could get a copy of the owner's manual?
the model # is Sear Kenmore 158.130

thanks in advance!

as far as a freestanding portable one, I am at a loss - sorry

I have seen those commercials and if I had an extra few hundred buck to spend on that I would. It seems that the fluidity bar is built so that you can literally hang off of it, where as I doubt a barre that is freestanding would be that steady. If you wanted to bolt a bar to the wall I would think that you could hang off of it. I made this bookcase that you can really hang off of

before I put the boards up and the books, my boyfriend was doing pull-ups off of it
