1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / looking for post-apocolyptic sweater pattern! on: May 13, 2008 11:04:31 AM
So I'd like to knit a sweater for my sweetie, but he is adverse to ANY ribbing, patterns, cables, etc...he wants something super-minimal, in the style of (forgive the reference...)  the costumes in zion in matrix reloaded; round collar, raglan most likely, something that will show off a nobbly, rustic hand-spun.  anyone seen anything that fits the bill?

i recently bought some hand-spun wool yarn through ebay...i was able to only get ahold of somewhere between 500 and 600 yards of this gorgeous, bright, verigated, 1-ply, sport-weight-ish lot.  its so pretty, it really deserves to be made into something special, not just a scarf or legwarmers...i would love to make a sweater out of it, but i know i dont really have enough...does anyone know of a hip-looking pattern for maybe a short-sleaved or sleavless v-necked shell-type thing?  or a miraculous sweater that would only take 500-600 yards of wool?  i dont mind if it comes out looking a little lacey and loosely knit.  i usually only wear a small or medium and dont mind sacrificing sleaves but i look kind of silly in short-torsoed tops.

4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Cathode sweater- Knitty Winter 04 on: January 24, 2005 11:31:41 AM
i just made this while recovering from my wisdom tooth removal!!  it came out lovely, i just had to add a bit of length to it at the bottom....i did it in all black merino wool with an orangy gold trim only at the neck and arms (kept the waist black).  it was so easy and im very proud of it, as it was my first sweater ever.
