1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Bowie Swap on: July 19, 2006 05:40:22 AM
Someone has shipped Smiley

Post your Bowie stuff here!
2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Bowie Swap (Signups closed, Send out July 20) on: June 05, 2006 11:50:18 AM
Swap name: Bowie Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: primashonna
Sign-up date range: June 5-20
Date to send item by: July 20

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): no

Non-U.S. participants allowed? sure!

All ages allowed? Or 18+? ask parents first

Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders"
list and will not allow those members to participate: YES

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap: Anything and everything Bowie related!  Hmmm... let's say one time consuming ("big" but doesn't have to actually be large, ya know?) and two other "smaller" items.  If you want to do more or something a little different, just make sure you communicate with your partner!

I'm going to borrow some already borrowed rules from 'qazicat' because I've had the annoying experience of being flaked on in a swap and I'd like to avoid it here!

Additionally, I'm using some of PinkMafia's rules:

1. If this is your first swap please read: (https://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html) to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

2. You must post on this thread. A simple I'm in! or whatever will suffice. This is so I'm certain you get all messages.

3. I will be giving feedback in the following way:

great swapper- for those who follow all the rules.
Did not thank partner or pm organizer when package was received- for those with bad manners
Poor communication- if you don't respond to my PMs but have been logging on to craftster
Shipped Late (w/ poor communication, or if over 1 week late w/ or w/out communication)

4. Please put "Bowie Swap" in the title of all PMs.

5. Please make an item that you would like to receive. Do some research  or communicate with your partner.

6.Delivery Confirmation Numbers will be required for swap packages that are being sent within the United States.  I will be pretty firm about this rule!  If youre sending a package to another country, or if you don't reside in the United States, please save your receipts!  Remember to send the DCN info to your swap partner(s) and the organiser.

7.  It is important to communicate with your partners and the organiser.  When you have received, please remember to inform your partner and the organizer!  If you are late, you need to pm your partner and the swap organizer ASAP.  You are still responsible for sending out the swap package in a timely manner!  A blatant disregard for deadlines (without communication, that is) will result in a "sent late" comment in your swap profile.

8. I will send reminder PMs to check on your progress, this will help people avoid flaking in the long crafting time. If you have any concerns or questions, pm me rather than just dropping out. If you and your partner have problems let me know so we can organize something.   Lets make this a flake free and fun swap.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Name of swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside of the US?
What kind of things can you craft?
What knid of crafts would you like to recieve?
What would you not want to recieve?
Favorite colors, symbols, patterns, etc?
Favorite Bowie "look" (Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Thin White Duke, etc), song, or movie?

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / purse organizer on: May 06, 2006 07:17:58 PM
So, I was inspired by this thread https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=48982.0

I got a new bag that's way to big and open and will just be a mess soon... so I made an organizer

I'll need to figure out what's going on with my sewing machine, though... look at the back!  Any suggestions???

4  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 11 ENTRIES / My new nail polish tray! on: May 05, 2006 09:50:57 AM
So I loved the shape of this when I found it at Sal's and new right away what it needed to be turned into!  (I love making things, but I also wanted it to be functional afterwords!)
I used images that I find a little glamorous... Audrey Hepburn, Gwen Stefani, David Bowie, fish nets, jewlely type things, make up, lips, etc... plus things that represent me... red hair, shoes, brown eyes, make up again... and of course lots of little opi nail polish pictures since that's what it will be holding!

Close up shots...

And in use...
5  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / In Bloom bag on: March 10, 2006 07:35:41 AM
So, I didn't have a flower loom thing and I'm way too impatient, so I used flower b from the garden scraf...
I still need to line the bag.

Here is is before seeming... kind of made an interesting pattern...

and after
6  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / stripes [and stripes] forever... on: March 06, 2006 07:20:02 PM
I'm loving this scarf!  It's very thick and warm Smiley
I did, however, break an F hook on the second to last row... I finished up with an E going a little loser...

The second picture is double up with both fringed sides on the right Smiley
7  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / boy beanie (girl-ied up) on: February 23, 2006 04:57:57 PM
So, right after I got my book, I saw the camo yarn in the store for the first time... since it was so cute, I had to buy it... I have lots left over, so I'll have to figure out what else to do with it.........  (the one I used was bernat, though, not red heart like in the book.  I saw several Bernat camo and I used 'outback')
So I used the bernat yarn and hot pink TLC cotton plus for the contrasting yarn... just to make it a little less boy-ish... here it is modeled by David...

8  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / My first projects! (one skein scarf, garden scarf, color bay) on: February 23, 2006 12:36:16 PM
*Fricken yahoo... I changed it to photobucket... hopefully this will work Smiley

So last Friday I got my copy of the book and started to learn how to crochet.  It's fun!  I'm getting the hang of it............
here are my first attempts...

My first finished project... one skein scarf

The start of my garden scarf...

And the start of my color-bay blanket

I thought this blanket would be a great project to work on when I need a break during other projects and a great way to use up some of my stash...
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / fabric place classes on: February 13, 2006 05:56:35 AM
So I finally decided to do something about wanting to learn how to sew and I signed up for a 5 week class at Fabric place!  Has anyone ever attended one of these?
This board has really inspired me to learn, thanks!!!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Clapotis #3,439 on: February 10, 2006 07:58:57 AM
SO I finished this in October and never posted it... I love the colors, but one of the yarns I used sheds way too much... I used TLC Cotton plus (which I love... it's cheap and pretty) held together withs some fuzzy yarn I got in the dollar section of target (go figure).
and, again, my monkey makes a great model (and is still wearing the clapotis)

I think I may use that sugar and whatever stuff (cream? the cheap cotton one....) because I do like the one that has pink, yellow, and orange in it... But I need a little break from this pattern... I just finished one at my sister's request....  I'll post those pictures later... It's red.  I told her that if I made it, she would have to pick a yarn she loved because it was a time consuming pattern and I wanted to be sure she liked it... of all things, she picked out the soft red heart brand, lol.  She has cheap taste like me... lol

here is my sister's scarf....
