1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / ~Pastel Baby Goodness Diaper Cake~ with bonus AOL cd's on: February 07, 2006 12:39:51 PM
So, I'm to be a Grammy for the very first time --- in less than a month...oh my!

Anyhoo- Just constructed my very first diaper cake out of Pampers Swaddlers, fake carnations and various assorted ribbons and baby toys. It was MUCH easier than I thought it would be. You basically roll your diapers tight, secure with clear elastic (like those used for cornrows), then tie your circles of diapers together with ribbon. Stack the circles atop one another and decorate your little heart out.
Going to use this as the centerpiece for my DD's shower next week-end.

Also, thought I'd use some AOHELL cd's to make a mobile kind of thingy to hang up at the shower. In case you can't see it too well, the baby's name is Faith, and these were just decorated with little scrapbooking items and some labels I printed on the computer. Please let me know what you think!

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Laminated Tarot Card Tote, AKA "My Karma Ran Over My Dogma" on: February 07, 2005 12:58:48 PM
New, cleansed and charged Ryder-Waite Deck, laminated into 4x6inch sheets, stitched together with a zig-zag stitch, and, just because the last side and bottom stitching looked bad  (er..laminate does NOT bend into the machine very well...), seams covered with lovely green electrical tape!

Suprisingly sturdy, and already bringing me Blessings; I've had five offers to make more, using bias tape instead of electrical tape, of course...one works with what one has on hand when 'prototyping' (is that even a word?)

Please let me know what you think! I am trying to find a way to line it without it becoming a major pain in the butt.

Thankya for looking...

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Lah-Di-Dah Bra purse! With Tute. on: January 20, 2005 07:22:48 AM
Wow! My first post! Here's a purse I made from an underwire maribou bra. Sooo easy!
All hot glued. I guess it's kinda a ripoff of the Red Hat purse, but I just love how it came out! My daughter wants to take it to Prom!

1. cut back off of bra, leaving about 1/2" to be turned glued to the inside.
2. Cut off straps
3.  tuck in center front of bra to the inside- glue down.
4.  add any embellishments you want- here is where i added some trim from an old shower curtain to the bottom.
5. glue it together around the underwire.
6.  Add the back clasp from the bra, gluing it to both inside parts
7.  Add your handle- I used a string of sequins- not real sturdy- but I think in retrospect, a nice necklace would have been cool.
There you go! Embellish the heck out of it (I used an old earring, and more string sequins), and enjoy!
