1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / First Retro Dress. on: February 14, 2016 10:52:31 PM
Hobby lobby had a good sale last week and I couldnt resist getting 10 patterns and a bolt of clearance fabric.

Wondering around I knew this fabric would be perfect for Simplicity 1061, which I picked up that day. I've never done anything this complicated before. Darts, lining, a zipper! I must have been out of my mind. I had the accent fabric in my stash already.

Getting into the sewing it really wasnt that had. I had the bodice done pretty quickly which had the most steps.

Then came time for.......the zipper. I hemed and hawed about doing the zipper for a few hours. It made me nervous as hell! I managed to get it in though. It didnt turn out like the picture and was a little bubbly but it was in damn it!
I got the black band to line up almost perfectly too!
The skirt didnt take long and all and I was done!

Im so pleased with the dress and I cant wait till I can wear it. I know Im going to make more of this pattern when I find more perfect fabric.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bedsheets to Mupptity 60's style on: June 27, 2015 10:33:20 PM
Last week JoAnns had Simplicity patterns on sale for 99 cents. I of course got as many as I could including this fabulous reprint.

I dug through my stash of vintage sheets till I found a great Muppet sheet and a pretty purple one for the lining. This pattern is one of the easiest shirt/dress patterns I've ever used, just 3 pieces. The side seams are open,it ties together in the front and back, the only thing that is sewn together are the shoulder seams.

Its completely reversible but I love the outer fabric so much that I doubt I'll ever wear it with the purple out.

I added a boxed pleat to the neckline because I had to enlarge the pattern some and the neck gaped a bit. I think it looks much better with the pleat.(Please ignore my nasty chin)

A close up of the Piggy costumes.

And my favorite Piggy. It reminds me of an I Love Lucy episode.

I think it turned out really cute. It sewed up very quick and I had no issues so I will be using this pattern many more times.

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Stash Swap on: January 05, 2015 08:13:06 PM
When was the last time there was a supply swap? I love getting a box full of new goodies to make stuff with and Im always looking for new fabrics. I've done them before where you fill a medium flat rate box with as many supplies as you can cram in it and want to do it again. Is anyone else interested?
7  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / How did she make the leaves look like this? on: May 25, 2014 12:30:06 AM
Hi Im sure all yall are sick to death of "how to questions" but.............

I just got engaged (yay!) and I desperately want these wine glasses for our couples glasses.

Sadly the seller is taking a break from clay for awhile and this pair is sold. I thought Id try to make some similar ones myself, not a copy as my fiance wants me to add thorns and change the leaf shape.

Ive dabbled in clay and feel like I can do the leaves and whatnot fairly easily but my question is, how did she make them multi colored like that?  I havnt got a clue how to do it and I really love the look.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Coupon swap on: January 06, 2014 08:25:37 PM
So other than crafting couponing is one of my favorite hobbies. There is nothing better than getting stuff for free, being paid to take things out of the store or even just pulling your total down.

What I thought we could craft for the swap is scissor holders, notebooks for making your lists, a coupon wallet(kinda like a tea wallet) for your purse, all kinds of stuff. We could also swap coupons, ones for things you dont need, for me that would be baby stuff or vitamins.
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Peacock of many stitches on: August 10, 2013 11:14:41 PM
Here is my lastest work in progress. Its not finished yet but I think its coming along nicely. I saw this on a free pattern website and decided I jsut HAD to finally stitch something for myself.

I traced it out with pencil on a white on white cotton. In retrospect I prolly should have picked a different fabric, it was a real bear to get the pattern traced and depending on the light the pattern on the fabric can make it really difficult to see the traced pattern.

This is going to be a kind of sampler piece with every feather group being a different type of stitch. Im trying to expand my known by heart stitches.

So far Ive done satin, chain, split, back stitch, what I call long and short, Im sure its got a proper name but I dont know it, and fishbone which I just learned. Ive got an idea for which stitch I want to use for the hearts but since I dont want to repeat stitches I have no clue what Im going to do for the rest of the feathers.

Dose anyone know of a good website for stitches?
