1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Missing the sea - creating a sea book - Lots of pictures on: March 17, 2010 08:40:39 AM
It`s more than a decade ago that i saw the sea. And I miss it. So I decided that, if I can`t afford to travel to the real sea, I should make something that reminds me of its beauty. So some time ago I made this "seabook".
As basis I used a childrens book with very thick pages.
The most writing in it is in German, so I write the translation below it. Smiley

Thats the whole thing. In the middle of the cover is a bottlecap with a blue glass-stone, blue sead beads and a lot of glitter. It`s a little bit like a porthole. I like the "bubble" in the stone, it`s imperfect and beautiful at the same time.
The whole book is covered in granite paint - a lot of granite paint. A whole can of it to be accurate. I pressed seashells, a starfish and sead beeds in the wet paint. The gras is "growing" out of one page of the book.

I used a little bit of blue and green acrylic paint at the spine.

I adde a little extra - a little drawer with a nice blue rhinestone as knob. I put sand, seashells, shimmering stars and some sead beeds in it as a little treasure of the sea. Smiley

The writing says: "What is majestic? A sunrise above the sea." and it`s a quote from Heinrich von Kleist, a german author.

Traces. Here the gras is growing Smiley I cut out a little window out of this page to place the starfish, seashells and sand in 3D. I painted the "frame" in blues and the "window" in beige so that it looks like sand, or at least try to let it look like sand Wink

The words are "sea" ," living space (in german the word "lebensraum" means living space as well as habitat)", "feelings", "oceans", "silence".

Two english labeled pages.

The last page. I cut out a hole and placed glas from a slide at both sides of it to create a shaker I filled with pearls and stars. Than I covered the glas and the page with paper.

Here you can see the back of the shaker and the back of the book.

Thanks for looking Smiley C & C welcome! Smiley

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Different shades of blue - different necklaces and a lot of pics on: March 07, 2010 10:29:48 AM
I really appreciate all the inspirations I got from all the postings here, so I thought i should share some pictures with you, perhaps it can inspire someone else  Grin
I like different kind of jewellery, so these are three very different necklaces. But they have in commen a similar color sheme, different blues (mainly).

This is a very classic necklace, i think. I rarely use only pearls like these but i really liked their colors. They shine when the sun is shining through. I was wearing them with a black tunic and felt fine Smiley

This one is mostly made of wire and blue and white beads and some silver flowers. I spent more time on the wire-parts than i`ve thought i would but hopefully it`s worth it Smiley

I kept this necklace rather simple because I love the blue and turquoise shimmering stones that I used. But there was something missing. I experimented with different pendants, beaded ones, smaller and bigger ones but in the end I just added a small silver fish as a highlight. I think it works, what do you think?

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Necklace and Earrings - wire wrapped and yellow, orange, red glass beads on: March 05, 2010 01:17:28 AM
I love creating jewellery and this is my first posting here  Cheesy
I used glass-beads in yellow, orange and red. I like how they shimmer wenn light is shining through them. The pendant is wire-wrapped. It`s a rather plain set but It looks nice with summer clothes   Smiley

C & C welcome Smiley
