21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Head Start Art Journal Round 2 - Sign ups closed Send out Aug 31 on: July 28, 2011 02:36:26 PM
I just want everyone to know how sad I am that I'm not involved in this swap! Cry I have been art journaling for a while now and I love it! I was reluctant because I am doing a personal swap with Teachart and I really want it to be spectacular. So last night I was stalking this thread, getting ready to pull the trigger and join. Then I noticed that the numbers were totally even and if I joined at 11pm at night, the chances are I'd be screwing things up.

I will be following this swap and envying all of you! Round 3 and I'm in!!!

25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Pow-WOW Time!! on: July 14, 2011 12:31:46 PM
Simply stunning! Such beautiful work and I also can't wait to see the bead work. Maybe you could give some progress pictures!

You should be really proud of yourself for continuting your family and culture's traditions. As time goes by so much of this type of work doesn't get passed down because the youth doesn't have the interest. I am one of those "youth"- now older. When my family elders were trying to get us kids involved in certain things, we had little interest. Fills me with sadness and regret. I am so happy that you are keeping traditions and art alive in your faimly!

Beautiful work!
26  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / GRRRRR! Leopard Print Dining Room Stencil on: July 13, 2011 05:45:29 PM
I am a decorative painter by trade- so this is how I earn my living. But have you ever heard the saying, "The cobbler has holes in his shoes"? I normally never take the time or energy to execute a paint finish in my own home, like I would do for a client.  Being the leopard print lovin' girl that I am, our dining room got stenciled- I don't know what got into me!

The entire dining room got stenciled below the chair rail. I am horrible with the camera, so you'll just have to trust me when I say it looks really chic. (In my humble opinion Wink)

A close up where you can see the banding in the background.

A detail shot showing the outlet.

The first stencil layer.

The second layer.

If anyone is interested in a tutorial, please let me know. While tedious, this is a very easy treatment (when you know all the tricks!). There are no gross wall paper seams, it's almost free if you own the basics and you can just paint right over it when you get tired of it. Everyone who sees it is amazed that it's not wall paper.

Thanks for looking!
27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing Chunky Book Page Swap Gallery. on: July 13, 2011 05:17:37 PM
WOW! This gallery is amazing! I also hope for another CBPS so I can have another go at it. I feel like I could have done better, after seeing all of the lovely pages being posted.

Today I received from MXER145!!! All the way from Canada!

She's a lovely art deco ad (as MXER145 noted on the back) and I adore her! I had to take the pic at a strange angle because she has a wonderful glossy sheen. Her hair ornament is a beautiful ribbon flower with pearl accent. Thank you soooo mucg MXER145! Well worth the wait!

I love this idea! So adorable! And I have an old train case that desperately needs love. Any tips or tricks that you could share?
29  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Scrabble Tiles on Steriods! Now Installed! on: July 11, 2011 07:22:36 PM
Did any of you see the scrabble-tile foyer floor in ReadyMade magazine? It's so cool. I have been saving up tiles ever since I saw it, just about have enough for one of my own.

I just looked at that floor and now I am picking my jaw up. As my daughter would say- HOLY MOLY COW! I wish there were more pics- that was such a tease! I can't even wrap my mind around how many scrabble games you would need to even cover the smallest powder room. Really amazing!
