Craft Challenge #123 - Spring Color - Entries Due April 2 - 9

It's time to vote!  Scroll up to see the voting poll.  Click here to see all of the amazing entries!

Feel free to ask your neighbors, friends, and even your boss to vote, but remember, just one vote per person! Kiss

Good luck to all!

Help us celebrate the spring season with COLOR!

Thinking bright and colorful, choose a color palette that inspires you for spring.  Your entry can use any materials you desire!  The more colorful, the better, though!

Perhaps you'll share a beautiful batch of Easter eggs you create with dye and washi tape. Smiley  Maybe you'll make a gorgeous twirly rainbow skirt! Shocked  Wanting to tackle the ONE really intricate coloring page that keeps taunting you?  Fill it with color! Grin  Been wanting to redecorate your craft room with a rainbow theme?  NOW is the time! Kiss

Here are some colorful projects to get your gears turning!

Rules:

  • Craft your project during this challenge period (March 5 - April 9, 2018) only.  Projects created before this timeframe will be excluded from the voting poll.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project (Although your entry can have multiple components to it).
  • Post your craft during the period of April 2 - April 9 2018. No sooner.  No later.  On April 2, there will be a special folder created for entries.  We will reply with the folder/board link here on this thread.
  • Voting will happen from April 10 - April 17 2018.
  • The winner will be officially announced on our first business Monday of the next month, in our monthly newsletter, on this thread, and on the Craftster blog!  We will contact you via Private Message, after the announcement, to get your prize package information.
  • If cheating of any sort is discovered, the applicable entry and votes will be disqualified.

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original, has never been posted on Craftster or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, please give credit to that project.

Prizes:

At the end, we'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get...

(1) their project in the Featured Projects area
(2) their project in the Craftster Blog
(3) and this Craftster prize (winner can receive prize in U.S. or non-U.S.):
Their choice of any one item from one of Craftster's online shops!

I didn't want to make the official announcement until I had gotten through a few more tests.  I think we are there now, though! Smiley  Photo hosting should be fully operational once again.  Please let me know if you experience any other issues with photo hosting/uploading.

24  January 2018 - New Feature: Tagging Members! in Latest News by sweets4ever on: January 10, 2018 03:24:33 PM

Now, when you link to a member profile in a post, it will also notify them via PM (personal message) that you've tagged them! Smiley

You can use this new feature in some pretty awesome ways:

  • Tag a member in a swap gallery thread to thank them for the wonderful package they sent you.
  • Tag a member to let them know their project or tutorial inspired the one you're posting.
  • Tag a member to ask them to input with their expertise on a craft discussion thread.
  • Tag a Moderator to give them a thank you & a hug!
  • If you are a Swap Organizer, tag a member to officially welcome them to the swap.
  • Tag a member to notify them of a project you think they'd love.
  • ...and more! Smiley

Using the tagging feature is very, very easy.  You simply use the Insert Link to Member button you've always used for linking to someone's profile.   Just click that little person icon in the post option buttons and type the member's username between the member brackets like this:
Code:
Hey, [member]sweets4ever[/member]!  Check out this post!  I think you'll love it.

Now, when you use this feature in a post, the system will automatically send them a friendly personal message to let them know they've been tagged! Smiley  They will receive a personal message similar to this one:

Hi sweets4ever,

This automated personal message is to notify you that sweets4ever has just mentioned you in a post!:)
Check out their post https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=401667.0.

Thanks!

Craftster and crew  Smiley

P.S. Please do not reply to this PM. We won't see it. To turn these notices off, please visit your PM.

All profiles are set to automatically have this feature enabled, but if you would prefer to not be notified when someone thinks you're awesome Cheesy you can disable it in your profile settings via the yellow tape measure menu at the top of the screen.  MY CRAFTSTER > My Profile > Personal Message Options -- Notify by personal message when a member tags you in a post.

Many thanks to kittykill for suggesting this new feature and to everyone who voted to make it happen! Kiss  PS.  That sentence just tagged her to come look at this thread!  How fun is that?? Cheesy

Enjoy! Smiley

25  Re: A facelift for Craftster? It's been 5 years... in Suggest New Boards and New Features by sweets4ever on: December 06, 2017 08:43:45 AM
Right now we are contending with photobucket not allowing 3rd parties to access pictures. I am working on tutorials, making sure that they can still be used. It is a very long process trying to recover pictures, but we hope that in 2018 we can put a dent in it.

Photobucket broke the internet. Cry  This process is seriously not fun.  I need to make a "news" post about it, so users can [hopefully!] help us and update their posts along the way, too.

It's time for our annual Gingerbread Contest!! Kiss  Each year, we've had so much fun seeing your gingerbread creations.  If this is your first year on Craftster, be sure to check out our previous years:

It's time to get out those mixing bowls and get crafting!  Your challenge this month is to make and decorate a gingerbread house.  Any type of house is permitted (cottage, castle, etc.) as long as it has walls and a roof of gingerbread.  Your entry must be made of edible parts, but it's not limited to sweets only.  The only non-edible parts allowed are a base, lighting and/or electrical components.  No gingerbread house kits for this challenge.  No size restraints; miniature to life-size houses are tasty and welcome for this challenge.

Rules:

  • Craft your project during this challenge period (Dec 4 - Jan eight) only.  Projects created before this timeframe will be excluded from the voting poll.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project (Although your entry can have multiple components to it).
  • Post your craft during the period of Jan 1 - Jan 8 2018. No sooner.  No later.  On Jan 1, there will be a special folder created for entries.  We will reply with the folder/board link here on this thread.
  • Voting will happen from Jan 8 - Jan 15 2018.
  • The winner will be officially announced on our first business Monday of the next month -- in our February newsletter, on this thread and on the Craftster blog.  We will contact you via Private Message, after the announcement, to get your prize package information.

28  Thanksgiving & Friendsgiving Dinner menu ideas? in Thanksgiving by sweets4ever on: November 01, 2017 02:48:53 PM
Are you hosting a holiday dinner this month?  What's on your menu?

Our close friends hosted Friendsgiving last year.  They made the turkey and the rest was an organized potluck amongst us guests.  I must say, it was pretty darned fabulous!  Unfortunately, we just moved across the United States and left all of our friends behind. Cry  I need to find a new, epic friendsgiving here in the desert, haha! Cheesy

29  Re: Anybody else remember these sewing cards? in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by sweets4ever on: November 01, 2017 02:32:30 PM
Ahh, I remember those!  I had that exact set!  I agree -- would have been neat, if they had it outline the dresses, roses, made some stars in the sky, etc.

My kids have something similar to these now, but they are called "lacing" cards these days.  They are a thicker cardboard, so quiet reusable, too.  Ours our dinosaurs.  For some reason, I never made the connection from them to my old Barbie sewing set.  So neat.
