31  Re: Ongoing inchie swap (OIS) gallery AND discussion in The Swap Gallery by teachart on: November 25, 2011 07:57:04 AM
I received beautiful inchies from Jillhogan today! And here they are!

The first one is silver and black, it didn't want to scan well.
Thank you! I love them! I wish I had time to make more claims! Inchie making is always way more time consuming than I think it'll be :-)

Wow what a pretty haul OGD! You rock Leslie!

I was hoping for sun to take some nice pictures of what I received from ArtmamaJen... but who am I kidding I live in Central NY and it might not be out until next April. SO here are some pics in the best natural light I could find...

First, my package was wrapped up so beautifully! (we discovered that we are both a bit hippie, love those dancing dead bears!!)

Beautiful bag, the colors are prettier in person- I love the batiks and blues!!

Awesome pillow cover and handmade soap!! My three-year-old informed me that it was his soap and that he will be using it in his tub tonight!

And a slightly better "action shot" of my pillow- I'm painting my living room gray in the near future this is perfect!!

(oh and that corner of the quilt you see was made by my mom about 17 years ago!!)

Thank you so much again ArtmamaJen! I love everything. Still crafting away for you!

oh and welcome to the addicting world of swapping!!

I am so glad kitty #2 is safe at home! Susanb, I loved making everything, even second time around! I just felt that you really, really needed that stuffie... and I would have even crafted a third time for you Cheesy! I am truly touched by your kind words as well, thank you  Smiley

And so I will share what didn't make it...

The looms I found were pretty basic. I know nothing about weaving so just youtubed a video on how to start. This is the piece of fabric I wove for kitty #1:

I then just sewed this into a tube for the cat body.

I actually smartened up and on the second kitty I sewed his front legs over the seam, so I think kitty 2 came out a lot neater.

Here are the cuffs that didn't make it:

I dyed cheese cloth for texture on these, but didn't have enough left for the replacement cuff  Sad

I couldn't find Coffee Crisps (stalking told me she's a fan of these!) at any of the international candy shops in my city, so I sent along a box of these:

I couldn't resist those hippo faces! (plus I love anything kinder!)

I didn't take pictures of the linens that I wrapped everything in, but I think they were similar to the ones in the package that susanab posted.

that cross stitch is awesome! SOOOO funny! I'd love to have that for my kitchen!

I swapped with mingus107 this past summer, and posted pics of the shrine she made me a while ago, but I finally got pictures of both my grandmas and wanted to share with you all how it looks complete:

and a close up:

My German grandma on the left, and my Italian grandma on the right. I love it so much, it's on my desk so I can look at it often. The little drawer is still empty, still thinking about what to keep in it!

And I'm not sure if mingus107 got around to posting the shrine that I made her, if you're interested you can check it out here!

Great stuffies so far everyone! Are you ready to see what I received from the awesome susanab??!

I'm the catcher on a co-ed softball team during the summer... I might not be the most athletic person in the world, but gosh darn it I will give 110% when I play! This earned me the nickname "Wolverine" because I am a crazy animal behind the plate. Susanab took our team name (Pigs Might Fly) and colors (tie dye!) and made me these little critters:

(W for wolverine!)

Wings and a cape, because pigs can fly in lots of different ways!

posing with some extras! A pig head band to keep my hair out of my face behind the plate and at the bar afterwords while tipping back a couple of celebratory cold ones!

Posing with our jersey, practicing their "stink eyes" to use on our competitors next season!!

Thanks again susanab! I love them so much! Still crafting away on yours!!!

36  Amy Debra Shrine! in Completed Projects by teachart on: September 03, 2011 07:32:34 AM
Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a shadow box that I made for a recent personal swap with the awesome Mingus107. Knowing that she liked
my Amy Debra, I decided to go from there. This is what I came up with:

And a few more pics with different lighting-

We're sure going to miss her at our house, but I know that she is well loved in her new home! Thanks for looking everyone, I'd love to hear what you guys think!

Great packages in this gallery! I love that little cabinet you received Dragonflower!

Mingus107 asked me if I'd be interested in personal swap at the beginning of the summer, and after some chatting, we decided to make each other shrines.  The shrine she made me arrived today, and I love it so much!!! As soon as I took it out of the box, my three-year-old exclaimed "Oh, it's so beautiful!!" (and we all know that kids are tough critics!!)

Everything is reclaimed/upcycled- I love all the jewelry bits!! The little frames are to put pictures of deceased loved ones in. I'm planning to put both of my grandmother's photos in, just need to find some old ones next time I visit my parents. (I'll have to update when I get them in there).

Thank you so much Mingus107!!! I had a blast swapping with you. I hope you like what I made you!

The gallery looks great everyone!!

I received my thank you gift from my needer, fifilaru! Be prepared to be jealous, all!

My only problem is deciding how I want to use this beautiful box! fifilaru mentioned it would be a nice evening bag, maybe I'll talk the Mr. into taking me out someplace nice so I can show it off  Smiley

Oh- the box came wrapped in that beautiful gold and red fabric too!

Thanks again fifilaru! I should be sending your envelope in a day or two, I went to a used book sale this weekend and still need to check out my haul because I'm sure I'll find more stuff to add into your envelope!

Now I want to make you a giant eyeball head teachart!

If you did, I'd look something like this:

Oh, that's if you make one for my toddler too Smiley

(And this is an old photo, it's cold where I live but not that cold! It's the only full length photo I could find, and it sort of looks like I'm walking a runway..... Smiley

And fabric pieces, embroidery floss, ribbon, and beads and tiny cards
