81  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Semi-inchie-like creations! on: March 15, 2010 06:15:04 PM
My first attempt at some inchies! Only one is a true inchie, I think...the rest I sized around the things I wanted to focus on.

Six pretties!

And here are some close-ups.

Bjork's famous swan dress!

Corzo tequila

This one is called Audrey Rose!

My favorite! GO AWAY! The photo doesn't do it justice. Maybe I should add something shiny?

This one looks a little vintage-y.

This one is fun!

All together again.

I'm always interested in the materials people use to make these kinds of things, so I thought I'd list everything I used here. These are made of random pieces of cardboard (for backing), newspaper clippings, magazine clippings, words from greeting cards, a Corzo tequila ad, a thick clothing tag, scrapbook paper, and a glue stick!

Thanks for looking!
82  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / THE GOLDEN SNITCH!! earrings on: March 06, 2010 12:18:41 AM
This project was inspired by a recent post...I tried to search for you but the search feature isn't working right now! Thanks for the inspiration, though Smiley

My best friend and I are huge Harry Potter fans, and she's even in a Quidditch league at her college (yes, it's very confusing, but cool! apparently every part of the game is assigned to a person, even being a Bludger or a Snitch!). I made these for her birthday.

These were a PAIN IN THE TUSH!!! The idea definitely changed as the project progressed.

I like to think of them as abstract.

BONUS! A fun little gift box I made for them out of a plastic pin box from a sewing kit and a paper measuring tape.

Thanks for looking! And thanks again for the inspiration.
83  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Dangly-hangly illusion paper earrings! on: March 06, 2010 12:04:50 AM
Love everyone's ideas of making the paper beads! They are so unique, and best of all, free! I sat down and made a load of them one afternoon and then came up with these for a friend who loves unique jewelry.

The colors are much brighter in real life. I wanted to make some jewelry out of these that looked sophisticated and not just like I made it out of paper. I got the idea to use the fishing line to make the beads seem to "float" on top of each other in an interesting way.

A close-up. It turned out decently! I experimented with different ways of looping the line to make each earring different.

In action! I think they probably look better from far away, and in a less blurry picture. Anyway, I hope my friend liked them.

Thanks for looking!
84  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Silky tie wallets on: March 05, 2010 11:55:57 PM
Aren't ties a weird fashion statement? Maybe the men's equivalent of high heels...we force ourselves to walk on the balls of our feet and they tie a noose around their necks every day. I don't know. Anyways, they are good for other things too.

These are some cool little wallets made out of silk ties!

Yellow paisley print and dark blue with tiny apples. I didn't put a closure on them since the interfacing makes them stiff enough to stay closed on their own (and I couldn't think of a good solution after a few weeks of thought!).

Lining is some turquoise and black/white plaid cotton from stash. I think the colors complement each other really well!

I made these for some friends who enjoy crafty/recycled stuff. Hope they enjoyed them.

Thanks for looking!
85  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Crocodile tears! on: March 05, 2010 11:33:00 PM
My first attempt at constructing a purse from scratch! I call it the Crocodile Tears purse.

I was inspired by finding the little stick on metallic water drops on clearance. The material was a vinyl remnant from JoAnn's and some felt. Handle is braided strips of the same vinyl.

Design close-up

Mr. Croc is made of felt and machine-stitched onto the material!

Lined with iron-on interfacing and a black and white plaid material from my stash.

Charm close-up

I love purse charms, so I added one made from some junk I had lying around.

It's a bit lumpy and bumpy, but I was pleased with it for my first try! I was going for that mini-bowler bag effect.

Hope you enjoy!
