1  UNITED STATES / Connecticut / anyone want my fabric? on: January 30, 2010 06:47:21 AM
no... i'm not kidding!

I just moved into my first place and have finally retrieved all of my sewing supplies from storage. As I began to unpack I came to the realization that I have more than I will ever ever be able to use. So, I'm getting rid of a TON. I have boxes and boxes that  I need gone. I have calico, knits, some fleece, corduroy, printed canvas, some denim, some vintage, home dec, everything! The majority of the pieces are a yard or more. Some are smaller. The fabric does smell a little musty from being in a storage unit, but a quick wash will solve that in a hurry. I see no water damage on the boxes or the pieces themselves.

I want getting rid of it to be painless as possible. I'm still getting settled into my new place and don't have time to sort out specific things for specific people. So, if anyone is interested in a box, or four, it's all yours! A grab bag of the best kind. I just ask that you pass along whatever you don't like in a respsonsible way, I don't want it to end up in a landfill.

I located on the Bridgeport/Stratford line, close to Broadbridge Ave. I'll give this post about a week before I post over on Craigslist. Wanted to give the craftster girls first dibs!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Wool Ruffle Wreath on: January 24, 2010 08:55:50 AM
Hi Everyone!

I debated over whether I should post this project here or on the holiday boards, but decided it was generic enough to post here.

I used the design sponge tutorial and after about two hours of cutting and pinning, I had completed by Valentine's Day wreath.

I used wool felt instead of acrylic because I prefer the look. I chose to add in a few red bits in honor of the holiday. The whole thing reminds be of thick, lush peony petals. Mine is not quite as dense as the original because I ran out of felt so when I make another I will definitely buy extra felt.

Here she is, hanging in my undecorated sewing room. Curtains are the next project, as soon as my boyfriend wakes up so I can drag him to the store....

I love Valentine's Day and the idea of having my own handmade decorations to pull out year after year now that I am in my own place. Thank you for looking!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Wood and Silk Headboard on: January 17, 2010 10:18:49 AM
Hi All!

I recently moved into my first place and have been looking for affordable ways
to make it homey and adorable without breaking my pretty tiny bank.

I love the gray walls and red velvet curtains in my bedroom but decided I needed to
layer in more colors and textures to make it more "me." I was also tired of whacking my head
against the wall when sitting up in bed.

So, my idea was born. A quick trip to Home Depot and the fabric store and I was on my way to
bringing it to fruition.

A few hours later, here's what I ended up with:

PLease excuse the barely made bed. I'm still unpacking and getting settled. Also: I'm a
lazy girl.

I really love it. I also tried it with button tufting but in the end liked it better
plain. I'd love any comments or critiques. Feel free to give advice about what else the
room needs. I do have plans to add an upholstered bench in a patterned fabric and a small
throw pillow in a bright pattern. The day is not long enough!

Thank you for looking.
