1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 48 ENTRIES / Uh...Houston, I think the shuttle is a bit too small (v. image heavy) on: March 07, 2010 03:29:33 PM
As you may have already guessed, my contribution to the little tiny challenge is a minature space shuttle.

Here is the view of it in orbit just before beginning its pitch manoeuvre to allow checks on the heat tiles to be made:

You might be able to see on the left wing the American flag and the name of the shuttle (Atlantis) and on the right wing the NASA logo.

And here is the view halfway through the manoeuvre of the underside of the shuttle:

Okay, enough with the jargon. Now for the major pic spamming. Apologies if your computer freezes up or explodes or anything equally dramatic.

If you can't read what it says, and frankly you deserve a medal or a cookie if you can, the black fuzzy writing on the side says United States

On this side, it says Atlantis

And finally:

the proof of its size: 2 inch height, 2 inch wingspan.

Sadly these beautiful machines and the era of spaceflight that went with them will finish this September.

2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Voodoo Doll Pincushion on: February 06, 2010 02:22:36 PM

My first completed crochet project! Thanks to one of my friends (you know who you are) who suggested a voodoo doll would make a great pincushion. Here is the proof.
This cheery soul was made using the basic head and body patterns from the book Creepy Cute Crochet. I was originally going to unravel him after making him since I couldn't think of anything that he could be, being purple and all that. Then I changed my mind after realising how cute he was.

A nice view of the voodoo doll's back/side/backside showing some more of the stitching detail.
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My fluffy sock monkeys on: February 06, 2010 01:51:23 PM

These two are my current favourite monkeys - the one on the left is called Zaza, and the one on the right is called Fergus. Don't they make a cute couple?
Both are made from fluffy socks - the type that sometimes get called lounge socks in the likes of Tesco or other supermarkets - and both are fully poseable thanks to the addition of wires in their tails and limbs.

Since Zaza is such a camera hog, here's an individual shot of him:

And because Fergus got a bit jealous when I started taking photies of Zaza on his own, here's his own individual close up :
