1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Pottermore Wand on: September 21, 2011 06:45:39 PM
This is a wand I made for my step sister based on her wand for Pottermore.
Its description is - applewood, unicorn core, 11 1/2 inches.
It isnt actually applewood, as I couldnt find any that had fallen from the trees already, so I went for one that had a nice shape instead of focussing on the wood type. It has a unicorn charm to represent the core, and it is in Slytherin colours as that is the house she was sorted in to.
Hope you like it Smiley

2  COOKING / Dessert / Chocolate fairy cakes on: September 07, 2011 09:36:12 PM
I made these for a friends birthday, they are devils food cake with dark chocolate ganache buttercream, and milk and white chocolate stars. I made 48 in total, and they all dissapeared between 8 of us, we are so greedy.. but they were really yummy!

Sorry for lack of close up pics, just be glad someone thought to take a photo before they all got eaten.
3  COOKING / Dessert / Gators cupcakes on: September 07, 2011 09:30:32 PM
My best friend has just left England to study at the University of Florida for a year. So I made these cupcakes for her leaving party.

The frosting refused to go orange, so I settled with yellow. And the flags are handmade. The cake is devils food cake, and the frosting is vanilla buttercream.

Sorry about the in-tin photos, I had to leave for the party, and forgot to take another photo once I arrived and had put the flags in them all.

4  COOKING / Dessert / Oreo cake on: August 26, 2011 06:28:42 PM

I made these sock bunnies for my neice and nephew for easter.

The pink bunny has a glittery tail to match the bunnies on the sock

Eyes are buttons, teeth and noses are felt, and the mouths are stitched

I also made myself a baby bunny from a baby sock. I'm using it as a pin cushion.

I made this quilt for my neice for her birthday. This was my first time doing anything so big, its 135cm x 200cm (size of a double bed or a standard single duvet)
The white writing is embroidered, and the black is fabric pen.

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Tardis cross stitch on: March 13, 2011 01:04:57 AM
I stitched this last night based on Fruid's one (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=374443.0)
The only changes I made were to add detail for the edges of the door and a little gold keyhole.
It didnt take long to do, maybe 3 or 4 hours total, it was done inbetween being sick so I wasnt exactly timing.

and to show its size, here it is next to my passport -

10  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Chinese new year on: February 18, 2011 07:43:45 AM
This year for chinese new year I wanted to try making something new, and as I had been wanting to make dumplings for so long I thought it was the perfect time.
I also made spicy salt and pepper pork for the first time, which was messy but very very tasty.

This is some of the dumplings I made, most of them went into the freezer ready for lunches. They are filled with a mix of pork, spring onions, sweetcorn, seasonings and soy. The wrappers were handmade and handrolled aswell.

The final dish - Steamed dumplings, salt and pepper pork and stir fried noodles and veggies.
