1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Wee House Craftalong-Ongoing 2011 on: September 23, 2011 07:52:35 AM
I might try a few box rooms before I splash out on a house. If i could find a small cubby shelf at a secont hand shop then I could make them joining, like a large house/hotel type thing... and then give exterior decorating a try once Ive got the hang of interiors and mini furniture Smiley
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Pottermore Wand on: September 21, 2011 06:45:39 PM
This is a wand I made for my step sister based on her wand for Pottermore.
Its description is - applewood, unicorn core, 11 1/2 inches.
It isnt actually applewood, as I couldnt find any that had fallen from the trees already, so I went for one that had a nice shape instead of focussing on the wood type. It has a unicorn charm to represent the core, and it is in Slytherin colours as that is the house she was sorted in to.
Hope you like it Smiley

4  COOKING / Dessert / Chocolate fairy cakes on: September 07, 2011 09:36:12 PM
I made these for a friends birthday, they are devils food cake with dark chocolate ganache buttercream, and milk and white chocolate stars. I made 48 in total, and they all dissapeared between 8 of us, we are so greedy.. but they were really yummy!

Sorry for lack of close up pics, just be glad someone thought to take a photo before they all got eaten.

6  COOKING / Dessert / Gators cupcakes on: September 07, 2011 09:30:32 PM
My best friend has just left England to study at the University of Florida for a year. So I made these cupcakes for her leaving party.

The frosting refused to go orange, so I settled with yellow. And the flags are handmade. The cake is devils food cake, and the frosting is vanilla buttercream.

Sorry about the in-tin photos, I had to leave for the party, and forgot to take another photo once I arrived and had put the flags in them all.

I would love to take part in this. If any of the people that got the kit for really cheap would be willing and able to send one to me in the UK I would be so greatfull. How heavy are they? do you think they would cost a lot to send?
8  COOKING / Dessert / Oreo cake on: August 26, 2011 06:28:42 PM

9  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: So I really suck at making icing. on: August 03, 2011 02:17:15 AM
I generally use 250g of softened butter and 500g of confectioners sugar. And a teaspoon of vanilla.
You can then add a touch of milk, or a little more sugar depending on the temperature where you live to get it to the right consistency.
And dont put it in the fridge, it should be the right consistency at room temp.
