1  Re: Prayer Flag Swap Gallery (send by Aug. 3 2012) in The Swap Gallery by abbeyrd83 on: August 22, 2012 06:30:45 PM
ok. i'm am soooooooooooo sorry, zuliblu. things have been crazy. i've had this lovely little flag for about a week now, but spare moments have been far and few between lately. so without any further ado,

so pretty. it's a line from 'across the universe', which is one of my favorite beatles songs. zuliblu nailed the colors as well. love the blues.

thank you so much! i can't wait to see it flapping in the breeze!  Grin

all righty! time to see the wonderful summery goodies bestowed upon my by spidermom!  Grin

fisrt, we did agree on extras, so check out this spoilage...

some puzzle books, gum, & pens to keep me occupied this summer

next, a cute little wristlet

love the fabric. it just screams summer!

to go with the wristlet, a plastic lined pouch.

perfect size for a wet bathing suit. i will be using this, hopefully quite a bit, especially since it's been so danged hot. after my new tattoo heals, i will be poolside with my new goodies.

and finally, something to carry it all in

a tote! one can never have too many totes!!

and look at the embroidery skills here!!

the picture just does not do it justice. tons of tiny little french knots make up that flower center. i wish mine were that good.  Roll Eyes all the stitches are soooo neat and tidy.

love, love, love it all.

thanks so much spidermom!! i really enjoyed swapping with you!  Grin

3  Re: Craft This Tote Round 2! - Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by abbeyrd83 on: January 29, 2012 12:31:25 PM
when i left yesterday to go to the post office to mail my package for bann88, her package for me was waiting on the porch! of course, when you have something exciting to come home to, the line at the post office was reaaaaallly looooooooong. but it was worth the wait!

first, some cute little extras- two adorable fat quarters and a spool of rainbow ribbon with peace, love, etc printed on it.

second, some nifty coasters with beatles lyrics on them. they're pretty cool. the edges look like they are burned and it give them a rustic texture. and they are heavy! when i first picked up the box, i was surprised by the weight. i'd be interested to know what kind of tiles they are and how you made them, bann88, cause they are cool!

and finally, the morsbag!

rainbow beatles fabric!! i had to chuckle because i actually have this fabric in my stash, and couldn't decide what to use it for. and now i can hoard it a little longer!  Wink

and if that wasn't enough, surprise, a second morsbag!!

again, i had a little chuckle because i had been eyeballing this fabric at joann's but didn't buy any because i didn't know what to make with it.  Grin

also in the box was a bag of cinnamon sugar popcorn. there is not a picture because it's gone... Roll Eyes  and it was yummmy!!  Grin

thank you so much, bann88! i really enjoyed swapping with you!! i really hope you like your package! i think we may have been on the same wavelength for this swap. you'll see what i mean when you get it.  Wink

4  Re: Scrap Happy Patchwork Swap GALLERY: send by 11/30 in The Swap Gallery by abbeyrd83 on: December 04, 2011 09:29:52 AM
received from cxcaitlyn on friday! here's what i got...

i open the box, and this is what i saw...

now i must of been having a stupid moment, because i held it, looked at it and wondered what on earth this square, solid, heavy crafty-ness was.

and then i flipped it over. ta da!! one scrappy box pouch. DUH!

very nicely made. even the zipper looks fantastic! and zippers are not my strong point, so i am really impressed by that.

inside the pouch...

a scrappy card case!

the scrappy-ness continues on the inside as well

and the whole thing

also included was a bag of chocolate drizzled sour patch kids. never had them before, but they're pretty tasty!!

and finally, a set of 4 beatles magnets! they're pretty cool. they are a glass dome over a picture of the beatles. forgive the lack of picture. i couldn't get a good one and then my battery died. will have to post that later.

so thank you for the goodies cxxcaitlyn! i enjoyed swapping with you!

5  Re: Mystery Critter Swap GALLERY (send by Oct. 4th) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by abbeyrd83 on: October 04, 2011 03:56:43 PM
my goodies from susanab...

she decorated the box for me:

lots of extras....

beatles fat quarter!!!

of all the beatles fabric i have, i don't have any like that.

a nifty little pouch (the inside is really pretty, should have gotten a picture of that)

and inside the pouch... ATC's!!

i had mentioned in my questionairre that i was interested in atc's. i have never done any before, and really didn't know what they were. so, she made me the one on the left, one of my favorite beatles songs BTW, and put the latitude and longitude of where i live, so i know when the sun will come. she also sent blanks, and the one on the right is a vintage postcard cut to atc size so i can make it into one of my own. i have a feeling this is going to spawn a new interest....

and finally, one critter that is a mystery no more!

she's a little polynesian dancer. i like how her bottom is almost grass skirt patterned.

so, thank you for the nifty critter and all the goodies susanab!! i really enjoyed swapping with you!  Grin

oh, and i really like both of the kitty critters & the owl! they are adorable!!

6  bandanna hobo bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by abbeyrd83 on: September 12, 2011 04:33:00 PM
i decided that labor day was going to be a 'craft for me' day since i never really get to make myself anything anymore. i found this pattern: http://destashification.wordpress.com/2011/08/28/boho-sling-bag-tutorial/, and i really wanted to try it, since i love hobo bags, but have never found one that was just right. of course, i had to try the patchwork one, and 6 hours later...

one bandanna hobo bag! it's so me, all colorful and loud. i think i would like to try the pattern again, but with solid fabric. maybe a beatles version, although i'm not sure if i have enough fabric.... that's the one downside- it took a LOT of fabric. the lining was a piece from my stash that was two yards, and now it's mostly gone. but it looks awesome!!! the hardest part was sewing in the bottom, which you have to do twice, once for the lining and once for the outside. i couldn't get it to fit right, even though the pattern said it would have to be trimmed, but i was still unsure and didn't want to cut it and end up taking off too much. so i just did the best i could, and it worked out.. mostly. and it needs some kind of fatstener, maybe some velcro, or maybe a snap. but if i could figure out how to get a zipper in there, even better.

and before i forget, the lining:

rainbow peace signs! oh, there is a pocket inside too. and you can see my white thread. i probably should have used black, but my machine was already threaded in white, so i chose the lazy way out.  Roll Eyes

7  Re: Hungry Monster GALLERY! Send out by Sept. 8, 2011 in The Swap Gallery by abbeyrd83 on: September 12, 2011 04:13:23 PM
picture time! here's what i received from sharalee:

a package of four mysterious packages. of course, i was so excited to open them, i forgot to take a picture...

nomsters! and not just one, but two! a fun devil and a hippie style one. the hippie monster actually has "flower power" embroidered on the back, but i forgot to take a picture. nuts... when i opened the package, there was a square cake pan on the table and i had stuck the devil in it. can we say devil's food cake?

the nomsters and all the goodies i got.

lots of nom noms! the chocolate is gone- taken by my mother, the gummie savers are gone, swiped by my sister. but the sour patch kids are all mine!! and a notebook, and some inspirational sayings. the abbey road picture is a fabric transfer. now what to use it on...

thanks again sharalee! i had a fun swap!

8  bandanna quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by abbeyrd83 on: August 06, 2011 08:00:34 PM
so after looking at some of the other quilts on here, mine is definitely not up to snuff, but i want to share it anyway.

a little back story... i live in an old building with very tall windows ( no lie, i'm 5'8" and can stand on the window sill and still have room). anyway, finding curtains was always a hassle, so  i decided to make my own. being a lover of color, i decided to use bandannas. no muss, no fuss, and no really long hem lines! i loved them so much, i decided i needed matching bedding. and thus the bandanna quilt was born! it is a little off because all the of the bandannas were not exactly the same size. the back of the quilt is random squares of flannel. i had to get a little creative on the back because i didn't have enough flannel, so some of the squares are four little squares, and some are triangles. but it's warm and cozy, and that's what matters! i quilted it around the inner squares on the bandannas. i made this quite a few years ago before i had a real sewing machine. i used one of those mini ones. and this is the project that killed it. my reward was a real sewing machine. Cheesy and an awesome quilt. i forget exactly how big it is because i have since acquired another blanket and haven't used this in a while, but i think it will fit a queen bed (which is a bit ridonkculous right now, because my bedroom only fits a twin bed). it's 5 bandannas across and 6 bandannas long.

the back

c&c welcome!

9  hawaiian bag in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by abbeyrd83 on: August 06, 2011 07:30:55 PM
i decided i needed a bag to tote around my gear for my polynesian class. i found the perfect sized zipper tote at ac moore, but it was plain and boring. what better way to spruce it up than some embroidery? i used the designs from the stitch it kit, and used fabric paint for my name. i considered stitching it, but i really suck at satin stitch, and it would have taken a TON of floss.

you have to forgive the rust spots, because there is an exposed pipe in my bedroom and it's rusting and i find random spots of rust on things. i have no idea how to get it off without ruining my bag. of course, part of the zipper is coming apart too, so maybe a new bag would be in order...

10  Re: Harry Potter - Luna Lovegood Scarf - My Take - PATTERN & CHART ADDED! in Crochet: Completed Projects by abbeyrd83 on: August 06, 2011 07:23:44 PM
just thought i'd share my luna scarf. i made it for my sister's birthday in may. i don't think i've seen her wear it yet... anyway, i used red heart shimmer in purple, but you can't really see the shimmer in the picture.
