1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Button Bracelet swap? on: July 23, 2010 08:58:00 PM
I don't know if anyone has done this as a swap yet, but is anyone here wanting to rock a button bracelet?

I've done a lot of the charm/elastic ones, and they're pretty simple to make. And fun. Plus there's a variety of differnt ways to make them, so anyone who wants to knit, crochet or sew a cuff could. The ribbon and some of the beaded ones are beautiful too. Plus they're cheap to make too. We could even do like 2-3 partners (or more, depending on when people can do this).

I would say the only stipulation is that the buttons need to be the focus of the piece?

Is anyone interested in doing this? I can't organize, I'm afraid. But I would LOVE to do this as a swap!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Back in Black: Metalicar patch on: May 28, 2010 10:41:05 AM
OK, so I am making a metalicar bag for a friend and lo and behold, I wanted to make sure that the pattern turned out well. I knitted up a swatch in bamboo and some shiny black acrylic (can't really tell in the pic) and I'm pretty pleased how it turned out:

(please forgive the dirty seat and picture quality). I'm thinking I'm going to put it on my black bag. I'm just so insanely proud of it.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Uncharted: SOS!~ on: January 26, 2010 08:53:52 PM
So as per usual, I bite off more than I can chew and Im going to bow to crafty ladies and gentlemen here, especially with being a first time craftster, and ask for help. Major SOS here.

The problem is, I have recently been introduced to a most awesome video game. Normally, Im the kind of girl that loves zombies. But I have to say, I got addicted to Lara Croft (even if I do hate AoD). And one of my favorite movies include Lara Croft and the Indiana Jones trilogy (notice I said trilogy George Lucas, youre a heartlesss &%$#!). Needless to say, when a friend got me addicted to Uncharted, I had to share with my roomie and dear friend and her boyfriend who is also a dear friend.

Well, hes very into the 2 games now. So much so he got a PS3 (is currently borrowing a friends until it comes) when hes a Wii/Xbox junkie. So I decided to do something for his birthday so he can feel like the main protagonist - Nathan Drake.

Problem? I have no idea what to do. Guy has holsters already. And jewelry is out. I could really use some help here. I did think of doing a tomb raider-esque theme, so if you have no clue on the games (which is a shame!), but I would like some tie to the Uncharted series.

Note, I have about 5 months to finish, so this can be a time consuming project. Also looking for under 100 here. We have this tradition of making each other things - but nothing that will break the bank.

I know how to knit (neither of them do), can do some embroidery. But this really has to be a 'guy's guy' project. And I'd like something a little more creative than a tee (he has several made by his girl) or an object with 'insert quote here'.

4  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Addicted to knitting on: January 10, 2010 09:00:57 AM
Hi, my name is Witchfire. When I was a young girl, my addiction started when I was a young girl. Arts and Crafts were my second favorite class, next to Math (weird huh?). I started making string dolls when I was still into dolls. I slowly became obsessed with yarn. Until it consumed my life. I learned to knit finally a few years ago, my friend from collage teaching me. I found that while I had no patience for sweaters, not that I could make one well, L was quickly caught up in making bags, hats, toys, glittens, scarfs, and various other accessories.

From there, yarn became my gateway. I was quickly taken in by shiny baubles. I learned to bead. I learned that glue was my friend. I quickly gained a stash of yarn and even fabric. And my sister is much ashamed that my yarn has piled all over my computer desk as I actively search for patterns.

But in my defense, I also have many other interests. I'm a paranormal, urban fantasy/horror freak, and enjoy things like Supernatural, Dresden Files, and Harry Potter. I love the mountians where I live. Love Steampunk, though I will never admit it outloud. I love the outdoors. Live to read. Love music. And enjoy going around barefoot.
