1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Quick question about homemade tea bags on: November 01, 2010 10:46:32 AM

Thanks for that, I think you're right, have seen some on Amazon for 3 for 100, will check ebay too.

Haven't quite worked out exactly what to put in them, definetly dried apple and cinnamon in one. Then I think will buy some dried ingredients and do some taste testing Smiley There is also fresh chamomile and mint and various herbs growing in garden which haven't yet died with winter arriving, might attempt to dry them and see if that works.
2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Quick question about homemade tea bags on: October 29, 2010 04:10:38 PM
In the process of making and/or thinking about and preparing Christmas pressies for people this year. One of things I am making is homemade tea bags, I'm struggling to work out what to use for the bag. I have seen paper ones you can buy that fold over at the top but thought something like muslin or a fabric or sorts might work better.

Has anyone tried this? What worked for you?

Was inspired by a post by 'xperimentl' here......  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=339980.0 using a sew mama sew tutorail here....  http://www.sewmamasew.com/store/media/blog/SMSAprilBags.pdf - the shoulder bag option

Have never made a proper bag before so liked the look of this as it didn't need the dreaded zip!

This is it with 'stuff' in it, makes the top scrumple

This gives you an idea of scale, apologies for bad pic

Only changes I'd make in future would be thicker handles, but all in all quite pleased Smiley only took about 3 hours to make (including ripping seams and re-stiching bits when i made mistakes)

Good job, I've got about 10 mens shirts (partner wears out elbow really quickly), been wondering what to do with them. How did you do the ruffles at the top?
