1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / first fabric wallet on: November 09, 2007 12:50:16 PM
a couple of weeks ago my wallet got lost in the trash (long story) so i decided to make one out of the TONS of vintage fabric that my mom sent me. i was a bit impatient the day i made it so it's not the best, but i'm happy with how it turned out.

i just started sewing...i've only done simple pillows and pajama pants until now. for the fabric, i used some vintage pillowcases that i had lying around. here's a pic.

5  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 11 ENTRIES / respective bathroom buddhists (?) on: May 05, 2006 09:10:36 PM
i found these about a year ago at a weird little book shop and decided that i had to have them. the orange canvas background was untreated and dirty with grease spots or something and this challenge inspired me to finally do something with them. i had leftover paint from doing my shower curtain so they became new bathroom decor. they're nothing super special, but since seeing this challenge inspired me to FINALLY do something with them, i've decided to post pics.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / boy's block scarf + color change question? on: February 19, 2006 09:49:43 AM
i'm a beginner knitter, and so for my third project i decided that it was time for learning color change. i made this scarf for my fiance using caron acrylic no-dye with size 10 needles in a garter stitch. the color changing method i used was just to knit in two of the new color. i'm not really sure how i feel about it. it doesn't seem to look as professional as i would like it to. everyone comments on the scarf and i'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but does anyone have any advice on a better way to color change? should i just tie on with a square knot? thanks!

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / heart pillow 1st seaming project on: February 19, 2006 09:19:27 AM
i decided to make this heart shaped pillow from http://www.crochetme.com/pieces-of-my-heart last week. i started out just doing it for fun but realized an old friend had a birthday coming, so i gave it to her. i really liked how it turned out for my first seaming project, but i don't think i put enough fiberfill in in  Undecided oh well...she loved it, and it was good practice!

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / gift for someone who has everything??? on: December 11, 2005 05:04:21 PM
my extended family does a gift exchange drawing for some reason, even though most of us just buy for each other anyway....

i go tmy aunt, who is a very successful business woman who either already has everything, has the means to get it...or just wants diamonds (which i can't afford) last year i got her a wine rack, and she's already upgraded. a few of us are already making her an "americana" quilt, which will probably make her cry, so i'm thinking i should make her something, so that she cries. she might actually hang on to something hand-made, and won't need to "upgrade" --she makes me sick sometimes, but i love her.

any ideas?
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / my first "real" crochet project! on: November 29, 2005 09:58:45 AM
i've done a lot of practice swatches over the past month or so, which i then named pot holders and pawned off on my mom. then i decided my first project would be a scarf for her, since she put up with and willingly took the crap that i made. i kind of didn't have enough yarn, so i had to take a couple inches off the length of the scarf itself and the tassles. i think it turned out okay....

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / CD suncatcher on: October 06, 2005 09:26:46 AM
My boyfriend doesn't take care of his cds very well, and I made him get rid of a stack he had just lying around. I really hate to throw things away (especially when they're shiny  Grin) so I searched around for some ideas. I saw "suncatcher" and immediately started glueing cds together because I have a lot of window space in my bedroom.  It's a very simple strand mostly because I didnt have any paint left and could only find a green Sharpie to decorate the CDs with. I'll take a little more time on the next one...I just wanted to see the reflections dance around my room!
