1  Re: Over 30 Geezer Swap Round 4 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by SMLounsbury on: October 26, 2011 02:43:19 PM
So sorry about my delay.  I'm finally catching up on life after a tough semester, a trip to Disney, and adjusting to back to school.  I also am dealing with a few health issues.  BUT without further ado, here is a picture of me from Disney with my favorite Disney character ever.   Grin Grin  I

I received from our fearless leader, babalina58, this weekend after coming back from vacation. I think it goes without saying; my girls are in love with the barrettes!

Awesome package from Medusa Lisa!  Yarn, crochet hooks and rockin' scissors for my stash and a resin kit!  Plus goodies.  My husband is hooked on the jelly beans.

I received from Bobomom, who is awesome and spoiled my kids.  Without talking too much more, here are the pics!

The whole lot (or most of it!)

A toy for Nermal

A toy for Zoe

The kids opening their goodies and modeling them.

Close ups!

Okay, so you're thinking that this package is awesome, right?  So do I.  Well, here's the grand finale!  A countdown!

Thanks again, Bobomom!  You rock!

Averia sent me the most wonderful art/sign for my home.  I loved the saying (because we are all a bunch of crazies in this home) and she put her own awesome spin on it.  I cannot begin to express just how much I love this!

And she sent me some awesome Disney extras.  But what she didn't know was how much I appreciate the Burger King Disney glasses.  I had these when I was younger and they remind me of the weekend lunches at Burger King with my parents to get a new Disney glass.  Now I have them to share with my kids.  THAT is worth more than I can ever express.

Package # 1

Sorry about the delay in posting pics.  We are coming up to the end of the school year and life has been extra crazy.  Anyway I received a great package from MedusaLisa.  Sorry about the lack of pictures.  I had kids grabbing from every angle!

The whole lot

Just a quick run down.  We have a henna kit (summer item) that Olivia and I hope to use for our beach trip, fun fur, a scarf, a Nightmare Before Christmas necklace, Scooby Doo Fruit snacks (gone in seconds), Kids playing cards & coloring books, a much needed Tide pen (I have three kids, lol), a teddy bear for Harper and a cool hair clip!  There is also the best. salsa. ever.  in my fridge all the way from Texas.  I love, love, love spicy food!!!!!!

The coolest scarf ever modeled by Olivia

Cool close up of the nightmare before christmas necklace that is in my Disney box because we are totally going in October and will be going to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party!  Yay!

I have received from both lovely partners but my pics of Adrienne's are still on my phone...  Because my camera died the day it arrived... Now I've lost my phone cable and the kids have made off with half of my goodies. I have got to find that cable.   Angry

Anyway, I received from PFD today.  As usual, she never fails to send a great package even when she's under the weather.

First up, we are going to Disney in October and PFD drew this shirt for me with fabric markers.  I love it so much that I am going to break my rules about posting scary pictures of myself online for fear of scaring anyone for life.

Second, my beautiful new peapod necklace.  This joins the birds nest pendant i have from PFD and my tree of life pendant also from PFD.  I think I'll aspire to own one of every piece from her collection someday... (DH are you reading this? hint, hint)

Third, this rockin' picture frame.  I don't think PFD knew that I am a picture fanatic.  I have portraits everywhere in my home.  This was the perfect thing for my trip!

And, she sent some awesome princess pens that I believe grew legs upon opening the box.  I believe they've made their way to the disney box via Miss Olivia, 6 year old courier.

Details of swap:
With the global economy tanking, Id be willing to venture that most of us have been to a dollar store in the last year (or if youre like me, three times a week).  There are so many goodies to be found and for cheap!  This swap is to embrace your inner frugal diva and design some killer crafts from dollar store goodies.

1. The dollar amount spent at your dollar store should be between $10-$15 for the crafted items.  No exceptions.  Receipts must be sent or scanned and sent.
2.  You are only allowed to go to actual dollar stores for your supplies.  I know Walmart/Target/Michaels/AC Moore/Joanns have dollar sections but for this swap, they are prohibited.
3.  Everything must be purchased new.  No upcycling vintage items UNLESS you can find them at your dollar store.  Mine has vintage shirts every once in a great while.
4.  Notions and supplies such as thread, glue, scissors, etc., ARE allowed to be used in the construction of your item but the bulk of each crafted item must be from the dollar store.
5.  Spoiling is not required but it is always nice.  Should you choose to spoil, this should be in addition to the dollar amount required to be spent on the actual crafted.  There is some NEAT stuff at the dollar store.

Your package:
Im going to follow last years example with required items.  I am requiring TWO crafted items but encouraging you to make as many dollar store goodies as you can with the amount you are to spend.  Please discuss the size of your package with your partner.

Additional rules to ensure everything goes smoothly and we all have fun (adapted from last years DS swap)

I am reserving the right to refuse any crafter who has poor communication and/or late send-outs for previous swaps!
-When sending PM's, please include I <3 the Dollar Store in your message so I can keep them all together.
-Please post an update in the forum weekly once partners have been assigned.  You don't have to write more than your crafting progress (Medium 50%, Small 0%) if you don't want to.  People who post weekly are less likely to flake, and no one likes flakers! Also, talk to your partner! Have fun and make a new friend.
-DC#'s must be purchased when you ship. Please PM me when you send your package, including the DC#, and copy the message to your partner.  If you will be shipping late, you MUST notify both myself AND your partner prior to the original send out date.
-When you receive, please PM me,  and copy the message to your partner.
-I will set up a gallery once the first person has shipped.  Please post pictures when your package arrives.  Your partner put a lot of work into crafting for you!  They deserve a little recognition!! Your feedback may be delayed if you don't post pictures promptly. If you stated in your questionnaire that you have access to a camera and don't post pictures that will be noted in your feedback.

If you have any questions about any of this feel free to PM me

I was so lucky to receive today.  My lovely stalker sent things that made my kids squeal.  That is HUGE in my book!

The whole lot -- pardon the crappy pix!

Stuff for my son.  Star Wars goodies!  An awesome mirror for his wall, magnets and trading cards.  He is so happy!

Stuff for Miss Olivia, my middle child.  She is a ballerina and starts preprofessional classes next year.  She is also obsessed with hello kitty!  I plan on hooping and embroidering the bag so no one takes it at ballet classes.

My stalker sent some awesome Disney goodies.  We just booked our trip, so these are fabulous!  Headbands:

Harper has been eyeing up Olivia and my poppets.  So now she has her own punkin!!

My favorite?  My brand new spindle.  It's handmade from poly clay! And in my favorite color--lime green!

There were other awesome goodies like scrapbooking stickers and a Disney planning book.  I am just so thrilled.  Who do I have to thank for this box of awesomeness?
