2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / contest for Venus magazine on: August 29, 2005 02:12:05 PM
i was looking at Venus magazine's website and saw this:

Were looking for a few good crafters
The First-Ever Venus Holiday Craft-Off invites folks to create clever gift ideas
by Venus Zine staff
The First-Ever Venus Holiday Craft-Off a contest pitting the craftiest in the land against one another to come up with the best, most creative, most fantabulous DIY creations imaginable for less than $25. Winners will be chosen from the submissions received, and the best projects will be featured in the winter issue of Venus. Venus also will feature bios of the winning crafters.

Everyone is welcome to participate, whether youre a DIY businessperson or just have a flair for the crafty.

Entries: Your project should be an innovative, unusual creation using materials the total cost of which does not exceed $25. Were looking for jewelry, clothing, home dcor, bags, belts, furniture, bath and body treats, pet goodies, and whatever else you can think of! Try to come up with unexpected uses for objects or put a new spin on an old favorite. Surprise us with your boundless creativity. Though the winning entries will be featured in a holiday gift how-to guide, your project need not be holiday-themed.

Your entry consists of two parts:
1. your project, and
2. a set of instructions for making it.

How-tos should be concise, but sufficiently detailed so that Venus readers can replicate your work. Please include a materials list that gives the approximate cost of each material.

Submitting your entry: You may send your how-to and either the project itself or photos of your project (either digital or paper) to Venus by mail or e-mail. We regret that entries and photos cannot be returned.

Snail mail:
Venus Editorial Office
2000 W. Carroll Ave, Ste. 402
Chicago, IL 60612

E-mail: Send a photo of your entry along with your how-to and project to feedback@venuszine.com.

All entries must be received by October 1, 2005, to be considered. We will notify you soon after that date if your project is chosen to be featured in Venus.

Ladies and gentlemen, fire up your glue guns, start your sewing machines, and show us what youve got!

Winners of the Venus Holiday Craft-Off contest will be featured in the winter 2005 issue of Venus, which will be released internationally on December 1, 2005. In addition, winners will receive a one-year subscription to Venus.
