21  Sun Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Hippie9 on: August 07, 2008 02:18:02 PM
Here is a necklace I made using a polymer clay marbled tile and a  handmade sun charm that I got at a store that sells imports from Mexico.

The colour is a little washed out....

What do you think?

Sorry this picture is oriented this way. I rotated it in my pic editing program but for some reason it didn't upload to Craftster that way.

Here is a close up of the face:

22  Squeeze, The Sonics and The Mark of Zorro! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Hippie9 on: July 31, 2008 04:05:26 PM
These are pendants I made in anticipation of the upcoming Squeeze and Sonics concerts here in Seattle:

Here is an image transfer I did from a picture in the Mark of Zorro program I got from the silent movie:

I was pretty happy with the way they turned out. The Squeeze and Sonics  ones remind me of mini lp covers!

23  After all my questions on how to do them, here are some UTEE pendants in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Hippie9 on: July 31, 2008 03:58:10 PM
I consider these to be experiments only but a friend of mine encouraged me to finish them into proper necklaces.

Thanks to tattfae for advice on how to put holes in!

What do you think?

Here are the other experiments:

Some of them have a bunch of holes in them because I was trying to perfect my hole-making!

24  Re: photo transfers: what did i do wrong...?? in Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions by Hippie9 on: July 13, 2008 08:39:24 PM
I just did the photo transfer thing for the first time! The first one I tried was a black and white photocopy because I happened to have a program from The Mark of Zorro silent movie night that we recently went to.

I "painted" the TLS onto the raw polymer tile that I made (I used white clay). Then I lay the photocopy face down into the TLS and smoothed it out so it lay flat.

I let it sit like that for 15 minutes. Then I baked the whole thing. When it came out of the oven I peeled the paper off and got this:

I also wanted to make pendants with colour pictures that I got photocopied. The pics had words on them so I couldn't transfer them face down into the TLS (but next I'll try the tshirt transfer paper for dark t shirts) so I ended up decoupaging them on, then decoupaging over them. I didn't like the look of the brushstrokes so I dabbed Diamond Glaze over them. Then I added chains:

I like this transfer thing and plan to do more of it. Finally I found a craft that works for me!

25  Ceramic Trinket Box in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Hippie9 on: July 04, 2008 06:53:16 PM
I just discovered this pottery board today!

Here is a post I did months ago but now that there's a proper pottery board, I'll post it again. I did a 9-week pottery course and this piece is the one I'm most proud of. It holds my husband's and my wedding rings when we aren't wearing them.

It's about 2.5" wide and 2" tall.

What do you think?

26  Stained Glass Soldered Pendants using Pendant Trays in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Hippie9 on: April 16, 2008 04:45:00 PM
I got these lead-free pewter pendant trays and Diamond Glaze from The Paper Studio.

I used some of the shards from my sea glass collection. There are two styles; one has the glass sort of inlaid and the other has the shards "spilling out" of the tray. I'm trying to come up with a way to put a thin trail of black around the glass to mimic grout or solder but I can't come up with a good way to do it.

Does anyone know? Also, comments or suggestions on the pendants would be greatly appreciated!

27  Sewing thread tension problems...what am I doing wrong? in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by Hippie9 on: March 28, 2008 04:38:16 PM
This has been happening to me almost as long as I've been sewing and I don't know how to fix it.

This is how it looks from my side (when I'm sewing):

But when I turn the fabric over, the thread looks like this:

28  Clay Trinket Box in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Hippie9 on: March 20, 2008 10:53:24 AM
This is a trinket box I made in my wheel-throwing class. It's to hold my husband's and my wedding rings when we aren't wearing them:

29  Pottery Bowl # 2 and # 3 in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Hippie9 on: February 25, 2008 03:53:29 PM
I'm taking a pottery class (wheel throwing) and really loving it. Really, it keeps me awake at night because I'm thinking about what I've done, what I want to do next, what colours I want to try. I guess I'm hooked! So here are the second and third objects I've made.

I threw out the first one I made because I inadvertantly let it become bone dry while I still had to carve the foot ring! In hindsight I should have taken it home and sanded it enough to make it look workable but oh well!

Here they are:

30  First wire-wrapped cage pendant! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Hippie9 on: November 07, 2007 11:08:40 AM
I had this great chrysocolla stone and wanted to wire wrap it but struggled quite a bit with it. The irregular shape and smoothness of the stone made it difficult but I finally won out!

It looks a little off-centre and I really tried to fix that but the shape of the stone wouldn't let me!

Special thanks to this tutorial:
