Remember when you were a kid (or not... yeah) and you would spread glue on your palm and then peel it off? You could add food coloring to the glue like this crafty girl suggested, then spred on your palm, then peel off. And you might commission your friends palms too. See how much they really love you... or bribes!

Yes!!! This would be amazing!!!

I think your best bet would be to wait untill it comes out on DVD, play it on your computer, pause it on that scene, take a screen shot, and work from there. Because, you know, I CERTAINLY don't condone downloading a free version from Kazaa. Deffinetly not...  Wink

So. Yes. I hope you can wait  Grin

Good luck! Be sure to post when you are done!
4  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Help needed with female Pirate/Renaissance costume... on: August 01, 2005 01:50:55 PM
Ok you craftsters... I need some help!

I am in the market for a Pirate/Renaissance costume to wear to the Renaissance festival that my favorite man goes to every year. This is him in his costume:

So, I want to make something to wear that is complimentary to the garb he already has. I was thinking a shirt that is similar to his, but lowcut with a under-bust corset over, and a long, ruffled, multi-layered skirt, and these black boots that I have.

The boots:

They are the most pirate-ish shoes I own, and I don't have the funds to buy any others. Unless I thrift them...

So, obviously I have some vague idea as to what I want it to look like, and I'm a fairly competent seamstress, and I am able to follow tutes and patterns with ease. So I ask of you...

Oh man, this sounds like it's going to be awesome. As far as making it look like skin, you could get some latex skin from a costume store and use that. Have you ever seen the movie Underworld? If so, remember when Celine tears the piece of Luciens skins from the book? It was attached the page with metal rivets (at least that's what it looked like). They sell those rivets in the scrapbooking section of craft stores, and also in fabric stores.

I hope this helps, it sounds like it's going to be tons of fun!!!

The first thing I thought of was craft mesh. It's plastic, comes in a bazillion colors (which wont matter... but is still awesome!), and is pretty strong/stiff, while still being bendable. You can get it at Michaels, and it's used for a cross-stitch-esque sort of activity. You could make the outside of your purse, make lining, and add the mesh sandwhiched between layers of batting or interfacing.

That's all I've got.

Hope you figure it out!

Eeeek! I really really really love it!

While I can see your point abou the "not finished"-ness of it. However, I think the minimalism only adds to its charm!!!
