1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Pokemon Swap Round 3 Sendouts 08/16 (Sign-Ups Closed) on: July 28, 2010 03:23:04 AM
Hey all -- I guess I'm terrible at this whole 'message board' thing. Cheesy

I'm a terrible procrastinator, so it's actually kind of a wonder I've started at all! But I've got a big creative project in my swap, so I knew I had to start early. And what better way to start than a trip to Opus?! Yeah, it's no craft store, but it makes me feel creative just going there.

As for me, I'm about 1/2 done my large craft (and it's large... I don't know how I'm going to ship it). There's also a small craft in the works but I haven't started, and also a medium craft that's small in size but also a bit of effort. I think that's good, eh?

Though really, even though my crafts seem small and don't cost a lot of money, they take me FOREVER to do. Three hours on one craft? I can totally blow that one out of the water!

This looks fantastic! I can't imagine where you would have gotten the idea. It'll be a good one to go on Etsy, if you do that sort of thing.

Oh, my god, these are beautiful!! I love the cherry blossom one, and I LOVE cherry blossoms in general, and it's beautiful!

And I can't believe it's so easy! Thanks for the tutorial.

Hooray, I've been added to the swap! Hi, everyone! Did anyone else get the Pokemon theme stuck in their head... over and over and over? I can't help it, every time I think about crafting I end up humming it.

For cross stitchers like me, here's a good resource: http://cid-adef20f4b8282822.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/.Public/Littlemojo|4s%20Pokemon%20patterns?view=details It's tons of pokemon sprite patterns.

And if you're feeling particularly epic, here's the EPIC POKEMON PATTERN: http://www.spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=403 . It's about a billion stitches, but cross-stitchers are crazy like that.

Sprite Stitch has a ton of video game patterns, so yay! Here you go.

Oh, thank you for this pattern! I love the easy-to-follow patterns, rather than the ones which use symbols.

Did you get the typeface from a sampler, or a program? It's really a very nice font.

9  CANADA / British Columbia / SFU Vending/craft program - discounted summer rates! on: April 27, 2010 01:53:50 PM
I know that you probably love to make crafts just for the heck of it, but if you're like me then I know it's nice to be able to make a little cash on the side, right?  Why not sell your crafts? What a good idea!

I work at the Simon Fraser Student Society (at SFU), and we run the vending program.  We have tons of successful vendors returning every semester, but there's always room for more.  By vending with us, you can increase the audience for your crafts by hundreds or even thousands of students and staff every day.

Tables are competitively priced, usually only $35 for the whole day, but in the summer they're even cheaper!  A table here will run you only $26 for the whole day. We also have discounts for SFU students.  You get a table and chair in a 10x10' plot in the busiest location on campus, near the largest lecture halls and the cafeteria.  Vending hours are generally 10 - 4 every weekday, though you can stay less or longer if you'd like.

To be even more feel-good, 10% of your tabling fee goes towards the SFU Food Bank, helping students in need.  Non-taxable, of course. Wink

In the past, our successful crafters have sold:
- handmade soaps and lotions
- toys and puppets
- jewellery of all kinds
- wood and metal carvings
- books and handmade paper
- knitted and crocheted dolls and accessories

For more information, please check out our website at http://www.sfss.ca/Vending_Tables.html . You can also give us (and me!) a call at 778-782-3870 or email at go@sfss.ca.

P.S., we also run an annual Winter Craft Fair in December! We'll start taking applications for that in September.

P.P.S., our graduation ceremony is June 15-18, so if you have graduation-themed crafts, that's the best time!
