Best wedding present EVER.  Seriously.  Cheesy

I have the mini plastic Clovers and love them for knitting wristwarmers!  I'm totally klutzy with DPNs, so these are great.  I actually went on eBay and bought them in every available size.
3  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Dessert sushi ideas needed.... on: August 27, 2006 02:51:59 PM
I know it's after the fact, but there's a great post on notmartha.org about dessert sushi -- she used Clare Crespo's Twinkie sushi recipe, and also made Swedish fish sushi.  (I am such a sucker for Swedish fish!)

Another common brand is SwansDown.  It took me ages to find it until I realized it came in a box!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / The Craftster Guide to Nifty, Thrifty, and Kitschy Crafts / Re: Recap of Austin Craftster Book Signing! on: July 22, 2006 12:36:31 PM
Awesome!  I'm so excited for tomorrow's now!

Also, I really want to stay in the Austin Motel.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Saturday Market Bag from Magknits on: June 16, 2006 04:19:32 PM
Has anyone attempted to knit this in the round?  Experienced knitters, would you recommend it?  I really hate seaming!

Ditto!  I'm thinking I might just knit it as a tube so I only have to seam the bottom.  I'm so klutzy at seaming... and weaving in ends... and anything that's like sewing.
7  California / California: South / Re: Craftster Book Event Location in L.A.? Please help! on: May 06, 2006 11:15:59 PM
It's hit or miss for me with them -- sometimes they're super nice and friendly, other times I feel like I'm not nearly rich or famous enough to shop there.  But all of their events/classes/special offers recently have been very expensive and/or "big name".

Vroman's has much better parking than either Black Sheep or Insomnia, and has better space as well.  I love Black Sheep and think they'd be interested in your book, but they're pretty small.

Unwind is a great yarn store, but they ONLY sell yarn, and I think are more focused on getting knitting designers to do appearances.  They're positioning themselves as *the* upscale knitting store in LA.

Handmade might be tricky, because they're kind of a flea market/consignment store hybrid, and I'm not sure any of their vendors sell books, aside from a couple kitschy gift books (e.g. The Hipster Handbook).  I think you'll do a lot more business and get a much better response from walk-in customers at Vroman's.

So, my vote is for Vroman's, but only if it's on a weekend.  Otherwise traffic might make it too difficult for anyone except Pasadena locals.
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Ideas needed please: Mexican wedding favors on: April 25, 2006 03:39:18 PM
Mexican wedding cookies!  So tasty, so appropriate.  You don't even have to make them if you're short on time -- just buy them from a bakery and package them into little favor bags/boxes yourself.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: projects from jess hutchison's booklet on: April 23, 2006 09:57:29 PM
I am jealous of everyone who got that booklet, because I didn't discover it in time and now it may be too late. I think it would be a little bit mean to not sell any more to people who are willing to pay and also not make it public. If she doesn't want to post the patterns do you think she would at least let people share scans/pdfs? She doesn't seem like a mean person so maybe we should ask her...   any thoughts? is this a reasonable request of a pattern author?

This is my dilemma, too.  I want to make some of these patterns SO badly!

I was excited to see her robot on the front cover of Make's new Craft magazine (which is coming this fall) -- maybe the pattern for that one will be inside.

*sigh*  Maybe we should take up a petition and send it to her.
