I completely forgot that tomorrow for the Warrior Dash I had promised my friends I would wear some sort of aquatic costume. Because this is for a crazy 5k where I will be jumping over fire and crawling through mud it needs to be something I can move around in. At the same time one of my friends made a full body lionfish costume complete with spines.
I looked around my house and came up with a pair of leggings and an old one piece swimsuit as a base and then I have a couple of items I can repurpose for an over layer but I'm hitting a wall.
I have an old tshirt material hoodie, a couple of old tanks, and an old peasant skirt that were all in my scrap bin. I need to figure out something that is a little bit warrior and a little bit mermaid/fish and completely easy and I don't know where to start.

I have been wanting a pettiskirt for a while now ever since I went shopping with my five year old cousin and she got one. It's just I'm 21 and I'm unsure about, not to mention that I'm worried my sewing skills wouldn't quite be up to it. So now I guess I'm looking for some type of validation that it is perfectly ok for me to wear a poofy multicolored skirt in public and that I can in fact do it.

Somehow it has become tradition that I make cupcakes for every important family event so I wanted to share my families favorite recipe (for the past year) which comes from my all time favorite blog howtoeatacupcake.net

The cupcakes in question are the Salted Caramel cupcakes which normally earn me a couple of strange looks when people hear the word salted in conjunction with cupcakes.


A couple of notes about the recipe though - during the frosting portion it says about eight minutes total for the sugar to melt. I have found that the amount of time it takes really depends, the first time I made these it was on my mothers electric range and even on high heat it took close to half an hour for the sugar to finally melt, whereas when I made them on my gas stove it took about half that amount of time.

I also came out with a few more than a dozen cupcakes when I made these, probably closer to fifteen.

Finally the amount of frosting created by the recipe is far more than sufficient provided you aren't smothering your cupcakes in frosting. It tastes really great on its own though and my mom has been known to eat it plain.
