How cute!! I've been thinking of making one for my powerbook... what kind of foam did you use for the padding if I might ask?

Cute work!!

5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Is this a good deal for a silkscreen kit? on: June 20, 2005 07:51:01 AM
Wow that *was* a pretty good deal! There's so many ways to go about screenprinting, and I agree with the others that the speedball kit is definitely a good way to start!

New screens are pretty easy to make if you have some wood and a staple gun! I was fortunate enough to borrow a miter saw (for cutting those 45 degree angles)  but I'm sure any hardware store that sells lumber might be able to do that for you for cheap. I got a length of 1.5"x1.5" wood for about $5 and was able to make 3 screens from it. Of course they're cheap enough to buy, but isn't it just that much more satisfying when you make it yourself? <3

Anyway congratulations, your first print looks great! Best of luck on many more prints to come.

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: My first hidden compartment book! on: June 19, 2005 08:13:30 PM
These are so much fun to make! Glancing over to your bookshelf, only YOU will know the top secret contents hidden inside that old copy of "An Expanded Look At The Mating Habits of the Deep Sea Squid"!

For what it's worth, the drill + coping saw method works great! If you don't want to try and wield a mighty power drill, you could always get one of those hand-crank models that I love so dearly! (Old Skool ones available on ebay and garage sales, New Skool ones available from Fiskars!).

Oh and if you happen to come over and see that copy of "An Expanded Look At The Mating Habits of the Deep Sea Squid" in my bookshelf, that one's real. It was for marine biology!
