41  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Arabian Princess on: February 14, 2011 05:31:55 AM
Ok well I made this costume out of an Australian size 14/16 (which I picked up from a Salvos for $8) and me being a size eight it was rather big.
The pants came up to my armpits and the top went down to my knees... not very princess-y Tongue

So I used the back panel of the shirt to make my boobtube, I made the pants so they sat on my hips and so the crotch didn't go down to my knees and put elastic in the cuffs that were already at the bottom of the pants to make them all poofy. I sewed the arms of the shirt and the front panels to make the belt (you can see the breast pocket on the belt Tongue)
I added aluminium coins and beads to the bottom of the boobtube

HINT! If anyone tries this, attach the coins to the boobtube!! NOT THE ELASTIC! Hahaha I made the mistake and then when I tried the top on ALL of the coins & beads fell off...

Also, that's not me in the pictures, It's my boyfriend's 17year old brother! Hahah!
Cutie, isn't he Tongue (Yes he's straight) Cheesy  ♥♥
But he has a flatter stomach than me.. he thinks he has a six pac... more like a 3pac Tongue
ALSO don't be fooled by the second picture. His muscles are not that big Tongue

42  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Sewn Cards!!! on: February 14, 2011 04:53:28 AM

The other day I was making a costume for my friends 18th birthday party (Arabian Princess) and I was at my parents house so I didnt have my sewing machine with me. My mum suggested I run across to the woman across the road and ask to borrow hers. When I got there she showed me the most amazing cards that she had sewn on. I was amazed!
The next day I went back and asked if she would make me a birthday card for my mate and she told me to sit down and make it myself.

This is what I ended up with!! It's soooo great xD It took me 3hours but I love it and I honestly dont think the picture does it justice. I almost kept it haha Tongue

Hope you like them!

43  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pikachu Hat!! with tutorial link! on: February 14, 2011 03:16:37 AM
OK! well my friend had a Pokemon themed party for his 18th birthday (cool right?)

Soooo me not wanting to go all out on a costume choose the easy option and just made a hat! yay Smiley

I got the tut on how to do it from Secret Life of a Bio Nerd. She does this like video tuts for so many things on a site called thread banger (it's awesome)

The hat cost about $2 Australian to make and took me about 30min. So it's very simple. I did cheat a bit an not put in the lining... but i was only going to wear it that once so it didn't worry me and it turned out fine without it.
I hope you all try and attend some sort of Pokemon outting... It was such a great night!!

44  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: My wife is creeped out by me chrocheting....... on: February 14, 2011 02:51:41 AM

45  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / How to Chrochet?? on: February 14, 2011 02:46:42 AM
I really would like to learn how to crochet because I have been given a book of crochet patterns and things.. and there are some amazing things in there!! Like stunning stuff.
A pair of gloves which look like they should be worn in the 1920's and a hat... Actually.. most of it looks rather 1920-1930 ish ♥♥♥

So I would like to know if anyone could link me to a how to site of some sort?

Thanks in advance!! Smiley
46  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My first ever plushie! Deer! on: February 14, 2011 02:37:17 AM
OK!!! haha this took a while.. and I think I may have sent like 50pictures to that gallery thing thinking it was how you posted things!!! (which for those who don't know.. it's not Tongue)

BUT YES! This is my FIRST EVER POST! thus automatically making it the most awesome Smiley
Well I just thought Id share my little plushy thing with you Smiley

She is a little deer that I had seen around EVERYWHERE and I think looks amazing ! But yea I got the tut from here >>

The little bugga cost me about $1 to make (that's Australian dollars) But then because of the cheap fleece i think that's why you can see the stitching?? I swear my sewing machine doesn't usually sew like that!~!! Dx

It was a great tut but i would make a few changes like attaching the tail and ears before everthing is stuffed....
And also.. I would like to be amazing at hand sewing.. because i sort of FAIL at it  Tongue

OH!! and just a hint for those of you that do try this... that gaps that you leave to turn your deer to the right way out (eg the tail, ears and body) leave a little bit more room than it says... it is REALLY hard to turn it the right way out :S that was the most time consuming thing of this whole project!

But yes, I hope you all enjoy my first ever post & my first ever plushie!! Kiss Grin
