We are mid moving ( Need to be out the end of this month ) and I went to pull my sewing machine out and my husband moved my craft desk into storage!!!  He left the sewing machine but took the cord.   Guess I'm braving the rain today to head over to our storage unit.

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / What fabric should I use to make this???? Dancewear on: June 15, 2014 12:43:51 PM
Our one friend is an exotic dancer and has asked me to make her a few outfits.  What kind of fabric should I use?  I assume it should be stretchy.  Is there anything special I should do to the seams so that while stretching it doesn't snap??
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / last name plaque- Superhero theme on: December 19, 2012 10:12:04 AM
I love love love those signs that have your last name as different artsy pictures.  My husband does not.  Plus they wouldnt really fit in with out geeky decor all over the house (except maybe in the bathroom which is french/pink/girly)  So my son and I made one for him for Xmas.
My grandfather gave me a board he cut 40inches by 12.  The comics are from my stock pile of 25 cent comics i got at comic con just for crafting, picture frames we deconstructed from the dollar store., paint glue etc was in the craft stock.  Pictures cost me 1.00 at cvs.  Total cost.  7.23

Originally I had some other symbols in there but our friend helped me make it so it was 100% DC instead of a mixture of Marvel also since the backing is all Dc.

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / It's a bird, It's a plane... No its my sons new Superman Bedroom!!!! on: September 05, 2011 09:55:33 AM
So we recently moved into a house we were renting from my husbands friends family and they told us we were allowed to paint whatever we wanted, however we wanted etc.  I asked my 6 year old what kind of bedroom he wanted and he told me Superman and right away I knew what we were gonna do.

His room was the first that had to be finished in the house before we moved in.  It was straight plaster walls that had been left untended in a house with 5 cats for years.  So it started out looking like this....

After my husband spackling and sanding for 2 days in 100 degree weather with just a fan, the room was ready to paint.  I got my colors ready and started priming and painting.

After 3 days of priming and painting and cutting trim and sanding and lots and lots of sweating it finally looked like this:

We moved in all his furniture and put his comforter on and it really does look amazing.

i decided I wanted his curtains to look like a giant cape. I wanted it to be 2 halves of the symbol so that when they were closed it made one big symbol but open it was 2 peices.   So we went to walmart and got some bright red fabric (I could not find bright red curtains anywhere!!)   Some of that no sew hem tape and got to ironing!! He had so much fun making his curtains.  Then.. We cut out the BIGGEST FREEZER PAPER STENCIL EVER!!!!!!

I got that spray paint for fabric that they have at ac moore now and we got to spraying.

Once it was dry ( My son had the hardest time waiting the hour for the paint to dry)  We went to hang them up.  We found that there was no curtain rod.  The day before I had bought tons to hang curtains in the living room so I had to save the day!!!!

There are a few more lil projects we are gonna do.  Cover his face plates with comics and make him a superman clock like this one.

In the end all that matters is that it's Jax approved.
