1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Easter BanK Holiday Weekend Crafts (Photo fest) on: April 25, 2011 01:54:41 PM
So I've been off for the long weekend, Thursday to today & managed to finish 4 projects  Smiley

First an Easter Present for my sister as she's dieting so didn't want Chocolate this year, I've made a few bags for friends out of old jeans & she gave me a pair a while back so this is using the material from her jeans, lining fabric found on Ebay. Pattern was from pursepatterns.com

Second another Jeans bag for a friend who asked about a year ago for one out of an old pair of her jeans which she loved & had loads of cool pockets - took me ages to come up with a plan & get the courage to cut into her jeans.....then my machine broke (lesson learned in not sewing through too many layers of denim) I finally got it finished this weekend. I'm still not 100% certain I like it but I'm hoping she will. lining made from one of Hub's old shirts, strap made from the waistband of the jeans. This was my first go at putting in a zipper too

Third is a present for another friend's birthday in couple of weeks, she loves making cupcakes, so when I saw the pattern for this on pursepatterns.com I knew she'd love it for her birthday, bottom is made from thick cord fabric, top is a layer of plain cotton & a layer of taffetta I think with sparkly bits on it (a lot of the cupcakes she makes are covered in edible glitter) lining I found on Ebay & thought it suited perfectly

Last a present for a friend having a baby soon, I saw the tutorial for a baby change clutch on here a few weeks back from vibrant designs (link to her site http://www.vibrant-designs.net/2011/01/duo-pocket-changing-pad-tutorial.html) & thought it was a brilliant idea so I copied away - thanks  Smiley I stuggled with sewing through all the layers on the folded bit so did that by hand & instead of a velcro close I added a long strap that just gets wound round to hold it all in. Mine is made from an Amy Butler fabric with yellow fleece inside & there is a layer of plain terry towelling in between for absorbency in case of accidents (can all be machine washed no problem   Wink

Phew! C&C Welcome,

Next project is a knitting needle roll for another friend's birthday at the end of May, so I'm still planning that one...

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Planetary PE Kit Bag on: March 20, 2011 01:21:23 PM
Last year for my son starting school I bought a basic nylon PE kit bag, after a year and a half of him putting his kit on and off for PE in lessins twice a week & this year for 2 after school sport clubs it was looking a little worse for wear and one side had split open completely. So as I got my machine back all fixed up last week I thought I would make him a new one with some space material I bought with him in mind (he's mad on anything to do with space & rockets etc....)

It is the first drawstring bag I have made & I made a couple of mistakes (this side seams at the top where it meets the top channel were a little challenging for me & my eyelets went a bit wrong but you can't see that luckily!

I have banked out his name in the pictured but I did it with the lettering stitches on my machine (it's still all a bit new & the novelty hasn't worn off yet Wink)

Hope you like it

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jeans Bag & Tea-towel bag on: November 02, 2010 04:16:50 PM
I finished 2 bags over the weekend

First for a friend for xmas, made out of an old pair of her husband's jeans

second made out of 2 tea-towels
4  COOKING / Dessert / Bowling Alley Cake on: August 09, 2010 01:35:07 PM

this is my first project I have posted here so I can't post pictures yet but here's a link to my son's 5th birthday cake I made him last month.

He was having a bowling party with a few of his friends & asked for a bowling cake

I forgot to say it is plain vanilla sponge underneath with buttercream & jam in the middle, decorated with fondant icing & strawberry laces Smiley
