5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: hearting items on etsy on: November 10, 2011 01:10:57 AM
on one of the etsy teams I'm in somebody said- I can't remember who it was- about the hearting and lack of sales as:

There are a lot of sellers compared to buyers on etsy. If it were a place I imagine it would be a long street of beautiful shops and the shop keepers would go into each other shops and praise the good work, but only occasionally buying anything.

I've been on Etsy for almost a year now, and I've only had a couple of sales. I am a full-time crafter, but I mostly sell face-to-face, so I'm not very fluent on Etsy yet. Would you please critique my Etsy page, and let me know what I can improve? Thanks!

Ahaha thats funny that I had actually perused your shop on etsy and then I see you here. ^_^ When I was looking through I couldn't tell if your beads where actually melted or not- or if they were just set and waiting for a custom order. But I couldn't tell because there is only one picture. :/ Use all pictures, or at least say its only melted on one side.

I'm starting to feel a little discouraged. I opened the shop to try and pay off some credit card bills. I have made 3 sales so far and have done all the usual things. I'm not sure whats up. Somehow I'm not getting around. I get roughly 15-30 views a day and my Sona doll has the most! I guess I haven't quite found what my true talent is yet.

8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Re: Advanced Shaping on: October 09, 2011 07:02:15 PM
I just made a doll and had a lot of the same issues.

This is Sona from League of Legends Body. I couldn't find the right pattern for giving her that hourglass shape so I made something up. Essentially I made a regular ball but instead of closing it the last two rows I just single crochet up until it was long enough and then began to increase into another 'ball' shape. I went through the back loops on the bottom going up, so that I could crochet her skirt right into her torso through the front loops I didn't use.

Okay this was the next step. Attaching the head, arms, and boobs! I made the mistake of not making her breasts with the initial torso, so I struggled to find a way to make them come out but not like balls. So I crochet two small circles, one peach and one blue, Then I sowed them together in like a flat cookie shape. Then I folded that in half so its color on each side. THEN! I sowed it to her body. I think they came out pretty well!

I found a really helpful video on youtube.

and this is how Mine turned out. I haven't done doll hair before, but this was very easy!
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do you make the curling tentacles for jellyfish amigurumi? on: October 09, 2011 06:38:18 PM
I found that if I single crochet a long chain with a smaller hook it curls naturally. Not like a squid, but like those oods from Dr. who ish. I want to do a project like that, but not sure what to do with it. Tongue
