11  Re: March-long spin-along! (or fiber stash busting event!) in Craftalongs by The Angry Hippie on: March 15, 2011 10:29:54 AM
All the tendinitis talk has me worried now.
astormorray that's going to look great worked up.

Jexx- i have the same problem with meraboo, but i think it might be for the best.  Bamboo wears poorly, the more spin it gets the better.  Speaking of bamboo...

I've been working on getting rid of mine.  Fiber reactive dying is not my cup o tea so i have 2 lbs of bright white bamboo. I decided to add a ply to a couple yarns, i think i like how it looks, adds an awesome weight and drape too.

If the ebay gods shine upon me i should own a drum carder by the end of the day and then i can card it into wool.

Here's my "to do box" (cardboard is super classy)  I have a buncha wool and silk waiting to be spun up and a buncha yarn that needs re skeining.

*****Hey Astor you should edit the first post and add a picture so this thread is easier to spot!****

astormorray- I'm lovin' the pink one, it has a very shabby chic feel.

tcmatteson- Oooo the little splashes of purple really pop.  I love how the subtle differences make such a big impact with fiber.

Belladune- Those colors are beautiful, consistency looks really great.  What is it about tiny skeins that make me want to sequel Cheesy It's.So.Cute!

IdlersDesign- I love your yarn so much.  It makes me want to run off and buy a fleece even more now.  I wonder if there's a way to dye as you wash the lanolin from the yarn... any one know if that's possible??

Alright i missed last week so prepare for yarn-plosion!

Hi I'm Adrianne.
My goal this month is to not have a fiber stash when i'm done.  I have roughly 5-6 lbs of undyed fiber and 3-5 of yarn that needs dying.   This is actually more of a need then a goal since i either step up my game or get a job  Sad  *le sigh*  Oh and I'd like to hone my magical striping roving and knit a project w/ it by the end of the month.

Also this is not really crafting but it's a big goal of mine.  By the end of this month i want to finally have my license.  Not being able to drive holds me back in so many ways and it makes me feel like i'm still a child.  For gods sakes i have 4 children and my husband has to play chauffeur for all our apts, shopping trips, it's just silly.  I really need to get over my extreme fear of driving.  I've had a temps for 4 years now Undecided (how sad) on the 28th i have a road test and by golly i'm determined to pass.

Here's my first step in destashing I used some roving i dyed but wasn't thrilled w/ and bits of left over batts.

65 yds, It's crazy bulky!

Jexx- that gran canyon is really beautiful and your first yarn has inspired me to get myself some raw fiber, love that texture.

Casmir- Your sparkly blue yarn is stunning.

Nikschaf- Oooooo angora yarn and BUNNIES! I can't remember what the puppet land from mr rogers was called but it gave me nightmares as a child.

Zombie Queen- Your sampler yarn is amazing. I really like the one on the bobbin as well.

Flounce-BFL- i don't like the color of this yarn, it's a test for a new method of dying that will hopefully stripe in a magical way.

Exhibition-Optim-navajo plied  This was my first time spinning optim it was very pleasant to spin and had a really luxurious feel.

Lavender Fields-superwash boringness

Thicket-silk/wool-navajo plied

OspreyWife- Welcome, welcome, welcome!!!  Awesome yarn, I Love the color, chunky singles work up so beautifully.

Jexx- Oh my gosh FIBER LOVE! literally. Cheesy That's such an awesome pic.  Your yarn turned out beautiful, it's crazy to think that was your first time navajo plying, fabulous job.

Oh Wolfy-corespun- alpaca/silk

Tool shed-superwash/fine wool batt & poly clay teeth

Ginger-superwash/fine wool batt- i really disliked the colors in this one so i spun it up as fast as i could to get it out the way.

unnamed-corespun-Superwash/fine wool batt

Tepid Mess-corespun-superwash/fine wool batt/bamboo/junk

I'm sooo crazy in love w/ this yarn. It's corespun bamboo, it's so awesome in so many ways.  I'm going to make a ton and knit something with it, i just need to figure out what.

Look at how the light refracts off of it, Mmmmmm.  It wears so much better then a bamboo single too.

Rapsody- corespun-superwash/fine wool/bamboo.

Aphotic-corespun-fine wool/silk

16  Matinee Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by The Angry Hippie on: February 11, 2011 01:48:15 PM

Really easy pattern, you knit it flat, no seams.  It's from The Expectant Knitter.  I knit the 12-18 mo size so it's a little big.  I also did feather n fan at the bottom because i dislike rolled hems.

It's a really easy pattern and you knit it flat.

It's knit from this handspun bfl.
