1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / New craft mag: World Sweet World on: March 26, 2008 06:59:43 PM
Just got my copy in the mail today (saw a mention of it on felt.co.nz and decided to investigate) - I've only flipped through it so far, but it looks pretty interesting. Really nice to have something local to discuss craft seriously, makes us feel like part of a vibrant community!

2  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Granny Squares vs Peggy Squares? on: March 20, 2008 09:26:23 PM
Just wanted to pick the brains of the crafty folk on this board: when you hear the term "peggy square", do you think of a crocheted square or a knitted square (or both/either)? I always thought that "peggy square" was the NZ version of "granny square" (I grew up in Aus and never heard the phrase until I arrived here!) which is something I always assume is crochet, but I've come across a few uses of the term "peggy square" that has got me wondering. Thanks!
3  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / TAKEN: Patchwork pieces on: July 12, 2007 09:09:22 PM
(ETA: Thanks for the enquiries but the fabric has now been taken)

Hi all,

I recently acquired a huge bag of quilting fabrics from my local Freecycle list and there's really heaps more than I need. Some of it was already cut up into squares and triangles for an unfinished patchwork project which I know I'll never get around to finishing, so I thought I'd offer it to you guys to see if someone can do anything with it! Squares range from 2" - 5", and there's some extra fabric to cut some more as well.

I'm happy to post free to anywhere in NZ*, just so long as someone out there will use it - pls PM me or email octopusgrrl@yahoo.com if you're interested Smiley

(*I can only afford to mail this within New Zealand, however if overseas people are really interested and are willing to pay the postage - estimated US$10-15 - I'm happy to make arrangements!)

4  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Worldwide Knit In Public Day... on: June 04, 2007 05:44:33 PM

5  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Dunedin Weekend Markets - back on! on: November 28, 2005 01:35:00 PM
Update 2: The market organisers have found a temporary venue, so the markets will now be going ahead after all!  Roll Eyes  They will be held in the green building on the corner of Vogel and Police Sts, down the far end of town near Spotlight and Briscoes. Please come along and check it out 10am - 3pm on the 10th, 17th, and 24th December.

Update: Unfortunately the markets have had to be postponed - it's a long story, but it's to do with issues with the lease for the venue. Another location is currently being sought, so as soon as I know anything I'll update you. Bummer  Cry

Original post:
The Dunedin Weekend Markets are coming soon! Each Saturday in December and January from 10am til 3pm, in the old Big Fresh building on Cumberland St (which is a huge undercover area with a skylight, and plenty of space). The first one will be on December 10th, so if you'll be in Dunedin, please come down and check it out! The organiser told me that they have 40 stalls booked already and the majority of the stalls will be handmade arts and crafts. So now it's just a case of letting people know about it so we can support local craftspeople Smiley If you are interested in booking a stall at the markets, please email: dunedinmarkets@hotmail.com
