1  New Imaginary Friends! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by UnsceneObserver on: July 21, 2008 10:36:36 PM

I've posted some of my earlier imaginary friends, and I've made some more! I still make some of them for friends, though, like this one, for my friend Andy who had his original imaginary friend was stolen when his apartment was broken into. He hasn't seen him yet, cuz he lives in New Mexico (and I'm in Missouri)

So, yet to be named, here's Andy's friend:

Here's some others I've made. All are made with fleece, by drawing the pattern and tracing it on the fabric and stitching on the lines

2  Shannon's Home for Imaginary Friends in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by UnsceneObserver on: March 16, 2008 07:33:52 PM
So, a couple of years ago I decided to start making these little plushies that I called imaginary friends, cuz they looked a lot like the cartoon Foster's Home for Imaginary friends. I made a few, one for my boyfriend and one for me, and stopped for a while. Then, one of my best friends had some tonsil trouble the summer before senior year, so I made him a friend and put it in his car with a note.

His friend's name is Maurice:

One of my other friends' was dropping out of high school, so we would rarely get to see him, so I made him Frank:

I've made a few that don't have pictures, mostly for birthdays/graduation presents, but then I had stopped because most of my friends had them already.
Then I came to college.
My RA had a crazy weekend where someone defaced her poster about alcohol awareness the night before it was supposed to be graded, so I made her Bernice:

My friend down the hall had her boyfriend break up with her in quite possibly the worst way ever (getting his ex girlfriend pregnant) so I made her Frankie Z.

And then a week ago, I heard that one of my friends back home had his dad pass away due to lung cancer, so I made him a friend yet to be named and sent it off Tuesday.

I'm sure there will be more, as my boyfriend thinks I should sell them, but I haven't quite decided whether I will or not yet.

Thanks for looking!

3  Topeka Monopoly in CHALLENGE 25 ENTRIES by UnsceneObserver on: March 03, 2008 09:15:29 PM
My hometown is Topeka, KS, which I hated until I moved away for college and now when I go home I am reminded of the charm of the city. My friends and I play a lot of monopoly, so I decided to make a Topeka edition so that when my boyfriend and I go home we can play the Topeka version with our friends. I found a template online and set to work changing the names of the streets to areas of Topeka, starting with the worst areas of town to replace Baltic and Mediterranean (Oakland and 6th Street) and working around the board to the richest areas for Park Place and Boardwalk (Clarion Lakes and Potwin). We just used the chance and community chest cards from an older game, but made new property cards. I haven't gotten any "in action" shots yet, but here's the game board:

4  Frederico del Terrible!! ...and his less terrible friends. in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by UnsceneObserver on: July 26, 2006 10:50:19 AM
So the other day I wanted to craft but I didn't really want to make anything big, and I had been watching Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and decided to make my own friend. I made Rufus  out of some extra red felt I had around. My brother saw him and wanted one, so he drew one up and I made him one. Then my boyfriend saw him, and thought he could do better, so he drew Frederico del Terrible. I'm most proud of Frederico del Terrible, I did him all by machine (except for handsewing the hole to put the stuffing in closed). I made one more, a cupcake, but haven't had a chance to take a picture yet.

5  Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! in Clothing Sewalongs by UnsceneObserver on: May 06, 2006 11:10:55 PM
My prom was last week, and it took me a while to remember to post here, haha. It's New Look 6401.

And my boyfriend and I:

My mom made the wrap, and I made a clutch to go with it. I'm planning to sell it on ebay, but haven't had time to list it yet.
If anyone wants to check mine out on ebay instead of making their own, Here's a Link.

6  Enlarging a Commercial Pattern in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by UnsceneObserver on: December 20, 2005 10:31:17 PM
So, for Christmas, I'm making the boy a pirate coat because he has no winter coat. (he's too hardcore  Roll Eyes ) He loves this pattern:
(top right)
The only problem is the largest size is an XL with a 48 inch chest, and he has a 50 inch chest. So how would I about enlarging the pattern? I would think that I could just add to the front where the buttons go, but I suppose that would make it not proportional. Any ideas?

8  My tutu and top. in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by UnsceneObserver on: January 26, 2005 02:54:15 PM
Inspired by all the cool-ass tutu's on here, I made my own, using emerald green:

I also made this top to wear with it, it's a New Look pattern that was recently discontinued.  (yay for me and my sewing store employage!)

I wore it to a show on Thursday, everyone loved it (including the cute boy in one of the bands)

10  Taking Back Sunday Shirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by UnsceneObserver on: January 16, 2005 03:38:10 PM
This is my brand new TBS shirt that I just finished last night! It's supposed to be purple but looks blue and I altered the lyric a bit, so that it reads "You're trying hard" instead of "This is you trying hard" and "scene" instead of "seen" cuz...I like it better that way.  Hope you kids like it!

ETA: the shirt's actually purple, but my camera is a weirdo...
