I really like that it looks kinda weathered!

How crazy! I JUST saw that picture/pattern on paper napkins while I was out a few hours ago! I was all "These napkins are soooo pretty but I can't justify spending $5 on a little pack of paper napkins!".

I really like it burned in wood though! So much more permanent than those silly napkins...
14  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Stylish Bunny Hutch on: September 04, 2011 08:01:35 PM

My angora and jersey wooly share a rickety cage made out of those wire crate squares. After we move across the country in October, my fiance wants to build them a proper hutch, and this is a fantastic example!

I still don't know if I would like a hutch off the ground like yours, or just a nicely built one I can keep on the floor. My angora is good at going in the cage when told, but my wooly can take some nudging and I don't know if he would be too willing to be nudged up a ramp.

That is so awesome!

FMA has also been an inspiration for me. Not just because I like anime, but just... I dunno. The whole story and idea of it is just awesome. I love it (and I love your embroidered rendition of it!).

Ha! My mom has that picnic basket!
What a fantastic way to reuse it!

I need something like that for when I go on car trips and to family get-togethers. I always end up bringing crafting stuff all crammed into a little backpack.

Oh my god, guys... I'm so mad at myself!

Yesterday I went to the Uptown Art Fair in Minneapolis (if you're in the area, you should go! Tomorrow is the last day!) and down the street all the booths are set up on is one of my favorite bead stores. I was all "Hey, it's hot and there's air conditioning, I'll step inside to see if they have anything new."

HOLY CUTENESS, THEY HAD SO MANY HELLO KITTY THINGS! Bells, beads, cabochons, handmade glass charms... all HK. In my head I was throwing a fit for not coming down there before finishing my package.

But look at the cute brass bell charms I found!

Little blue and pink mouse-costume-clad HK!
I grabbed a pack of matching pink faux pearls and teal seed beads to make a bracelet out of them when I got home.

(Sorry the pictures are blue-ish. Even though the sun is bright an shiny, none of it gets into my apartment because my window is mere feet away from the next building.)

It turned out so cute. I love walking around the apartment, being all jingly. I think it annoys my fiance though. T__T
18  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday August 5, 2011 on: August 06, 2011 09:57:36 AM
Belladune, that yarn makes me thirsty. It makes me think of blue raspberry lemonade. hahaha.

I've actually been working on this for a couple months now, but I think I'm finally done with it:

It's about 15 "silk" (most are nylon...) scarves from the thrift store, cut into strips, attached to each other, and then spun up. At first I didn't think all the different colors I had were going to work together, but I actually really really like the end result. It's about 100 yards worth.

And then my friend and I have been discussing the idea of spinning thistle fluff. He managed to spin a little pure fluff, but I couldn't (don't have a light enough spindle I guess, it's super slippery stuff!), so I ended up blending what I had harvested 50/50 with some knotty angora I had laying around from brushing my bunny.

The picture doesn't really do it justice at all. It's got the strength of angora, but the amazing glitter/shimmer and silky smooth feel of the thistle.

Unfortunately, I only got about 20 yards of it. I put the thistle fluff in a baggie and left the project alone for a few days... and when I came back to it the fluff in the bag had started to mold! I should have let the fluff dry out somewhere instead of sticking it in a ziploc... it's been so humid and hot around here lately...

Oh well, it was an interesting project!

19  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Back to Hogwarts ~* Signups CLOSED!* Sendouts October 7 *~ on: August 05, 2011 11:42:21 PM

I just finished everything for the Kawaii Sanrio swap, and the S.O. date for this one is so close to when I have to move across the country...

Earlier today my fiance told me I should do another swap because I had so much fun on the last one.... soooooo... uhhh. I gotta go ponder.

I got my package from barbie820 today! She spoiled me so badly, and did such an awesome job for her first swap! Yay!
I'm going to bombard everyone with pictures NOW.

Outside of the package!

The squee-tastic inside.

Adorable My Melody cross stitch and tokidoki envelope (with happy letter inside).

Kuromi headband.

A-freaking-dorable bag!

Closeup of one of the cutest parts of the bag, the angry raindrop. My fiance thinks he needs a manpurse covered in angry raindrops now.

So many goodies! Lotsa fantastic new stickers to add to my vast HK sticker collection (it's a ridiculously large collection...)
Also, right before I went to pick up this package, I was watching a candy show on TV and they were making PEZ candies so I was craving them hardcore... and it was the most awesome thing to open my box and see PEZ inside it!

Cute baggie... with something inside of it?

*gasp* What is this magical machine?

It's speakers for my MP3 player inside of a tricked-out altoids tin!

Awesome-tastic shrinky dink bracelet. There are so many cute little charms on it! Foods and animals and sanrio characters and everything! I love the noise it makes...

More goodies!
Beaded Kuromi head, beaded HK barrette, keychain, plushie pillow cell phone strap, and freakin cute felt pies made in soda caps! Oh and buttons!!!

My BJD Eli has claimed the pillow as his own, apparently...

SO YEAH! Awesome package!
