1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Phineas and Ferb - Dr. Doofenshmirtz Stuffed Toy on: August 11, 2011 11:32:26 AM

My husband is a big fan of Heinz Doofenshmirtz from the Disney cartoon Phineas and Ferb so after promising him a plush for over a year I finally broke down and got it made. It took about 2 days and I used a body pattern I found here and made the head from scratch.

The lab coat is so essential as he's just not a evil doctor without it. Plush once the coat was on it really just pulls the whole toy together.

He's made from poly fleece with some felt parts and took a bit more handstitching than I'm used to doing, but I'm really pleased with how it came out.

Critiques and comments welcomed and appreciated.
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mass Effect Wrex Plushie on: June 28, 2011 08:46:49 PM
After doing so many different plushies for other people I finally decided to make one for myself and since I'm on a bit of a Mass Effect kick right now I decided to make my second favorite squad member in plush form. Here's Wrex;

I made him out of fleece with bits of felt for the features. It was all free handed which gives a bit of an unrefined appeal, but he's super huggable.

The face took a bit of work, and actually had to be made twice until I was reasonably happy with it. I still wish he had more of a bulbous neck sticking out, but for all intents and purposes I think it worked out rather nicely.

The back isn't really that impressive, I tend to design the front more then just add the back on as an afterthought, I need to get better about that, but on the plus side I was able to hide where I hand-stitched him closed on with the grey parts and the tail was a nice touch.

Now I just have to figure out how to make an awesome Garrus plush and I'll be thrilled.
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The Grin Reaper on: March 29, 2011 07:45:16 PM
Made this for a forum buddy of mine. He's made of fleece with felt accents and has pipe cleaners sewn in to give him a bit more stability.

In the reference photos he came with a clock about to strike midnight, which I'm sure has some super cool symbolism to it, so I added a clock for him to sit on with the help of a sturdy wall and a little velcro.

He doesn't sit as well as I'd hoped, but overall I'm pretty happy with how he came out. I like the quasi dark humor stuff.
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / custom K9 plush on: February 24, 2011 12:35:10 PM
Had another custom request, this time for K9 from Dr. Who. Having never seen the show myself, I fall on your expertise dear craftster community, how'd I do?

He's made from corduroy with fleece and felt details mixed in and stands just over 12 inches tall. The tail is just a large pipe cleaner and his ears are cut from grey felt.

Questions, comments and critiques are always appreciated!

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Robo Domo's on: February 18, 2011 07:47:54 PM
What if Domo kun was a robot? A friend of mine wanted to find out so I whipped up some designs for him and these are the two he loved the most. Hope you guys like them.

The pattern is a modified version of the one Chronicdoodler posted here.
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Gordon Freeman Plushie on: February 13, 2011 02:42:16 PM
A friend of mine asked me to make him a custom plush of Half-Life protagonist Gordon Freeman. This is the result of that request.

He's made with a fleece and felt body, suede like material for hands and face and faux fur for his hair and beard. I'd estimated him to be 16 inches tall on my initial sketch, but he ended up around 21 inches so I guess I need to work on my estimations.

Hope you guys like him.
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Quick kid project - Felt Key Chains on: May 26, 2010 08:02:26 PM

So we got some junk mail today from a car dealership that included a fake key. My 2 year old loves cars and therefore keys by proxy so I told him he could have it. Immediately after this my "Mommy senses" kicked in and I wondered if it was a great idea to give a small chunk of metal to someone who still doesn't quite grasp that not everything is intended to be carried in his mouth posing the much feared swallowing hazard.

Presto! A crafting opportunity was born. Using some of my left over felt I quickly cobbled together a doubled sided car with a yarn loop sewn into the middle. A few wheel and window embellishments later I presented the kiddo with his very own key chain.

After seeing how easy it was to create and recalling that Father's Day is right around the corner I figured I'd come over and share the idea here for anyone looking for a quick and easy craft they can help the kids make for Daddy. The car could easily be substituted out for his special interest and even younger kids can help with making pieces and deciding where to put them.

Finally a male equivalent to the macaroni necklace.
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My first completed project- Easter Bunny on: April 03, 2010 11:04:29 PM
I've been lurking for a while now and I think I'm finally ready to show off some of my work. The body pattern and the face pattern were pieced together from some store bought stuffed animals to try to look like the bunny in my avatar. Eyes are felt with some white embroidery and a little pom pom for the nose and tail. Used Cluster Stuff to fill him so he's extra cuddly and huggable. Hope you like him.

Happy Easter!
