1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / MOTHER'S DAY YOYO FLOWER BOUQUET on: April 01, 2013 02:18:23 PM
This is a good way to use up lots of scraps of fabric, some skewers, and an old jar

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / VALENTINE'S DAY CANDY BOUQUET on: April 01, 2013 02:11:43 PM
I made several of these for giving and donated a few to a benefit auction

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Bubble Wrap Calendar on: January 01, 2013 04:56:27 PM
My co-worker is always snagging the bubble wrap at work and popping it. So for Christmas, I made her a simple bubble wrap calendar. She loves it and on Mondays, she gets to pop 3! This pic doesn't do it justice. At the top, are the Initials: JFMAMJJASOND.
Each bubble has a round sticker with the day #. The bubble wrap is taped used 2-sided tape to a piece of cardboard with a hanging loop:

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Juice Can Lid Christmas Card Ornament on: January 01, 2013 03:37:32 PM
As a hobby, I log, spend & track where my paper currency travels on a website called "whereswilly.com". Each year, a bunch of us exchange Christmas cards. I made these, unfortunately, they were a little too thick to send as lettermail and it was going to be too costly to send these as parcels since they were only 3". So I deconstructed them and made something thinner. One side is hinged and inside is a personal note wishing the recipient Christmas blessings.

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Stampflake on: January 24, 2012 08:21:00 PM

My father collects Canadian stamps. This year for Christmas, I wanted to make him something simple as part of his gift. After receiving some awesome Christmas-themed stamps on my Christmas cards, I knew they would be perfect for this simple craft. The plastic snowflakes are from the $ store. I sprayed white matte spray paint on the back side to give them a more frosty look. Then, I used white glue to paste them on. If he ever wants to add them to his collection, he can soak them in warm water - no harm done.
Oh crumb - I need to change the date on my camera again
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Father`s Day Necktie Footstool on: June 19, 2011 08:47:45 PM
I made my Dad this footstool for Father`s Day
I hope he liked it.
Time to complete it: 1 hour + 30 minutes material gathering time

First, A scrap piece of 2 x 12 from our deck
& foam cut to the same size

Next, stapled fabric to cover them

Stapled another piece of fabric to cover the bottom

I got these from a couch that got sturdier legs
unscrewed the bolt-screws using vice grips (pictured below)

The ties were alternated and each held in place by a finishing nail
The cut ends were tucked under & also held by finishing nail
The smaller half of the ties that was cut off, was woven, trimmed
and nailed into place too

Using a hammer to get started, I used the vice grips to screw the
leg bolt screws into the base

All that`s left was to screw the legs into place
Since my folks have wood floors, I cut little 1-inch circles
from a scrap piece of carpet and hot-glued them to the
bottoms of the feet - Done!

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Father`s Day Stepping Stones on: June 19, 2011 08:04:53 PM
My Dad likes to garden, so I thought he`d like some stepping stones as
a decorative touch. The first one pictured here is a bright green colour.
I hope he liked m ...

Materials needed: Foil roasting pan, WD-40 spray oil, rubber gloves, bucket, decorative glass beads,
quick set concrete, heart shape cookie cutter, some rocks and water
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Easter Crafts for Youth on: May 15, 2011 09:46:55 AM
Our youth group made an assembly line and made more than 400 of these. They got to pass them out after church Easter Sunday, we gave them to a lady who visits senior shut-ins, and we gave them to the patrons of our local soup kitchen in the hopes of offering a bit of encouragement to others.

The baskets  were dixie cups & pipecleaners, stuffed with a little plastic grass

They have a little bag of candy with a few words of encouragement printed on a laser label

To keep things moving along because of limited time, we used a clothespin and glued the fun foam egg to it, then just clipped it to the bag of candy. This is the boxful we made.
Have an awesome day!
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Plant Markers for mum on: May 08, 2011 03:45:57 PM
My mother has HUGE flower gardens and she likes to take me on garden tours, but
there's so many different flowers now, she's forgetting the names. So for Mother's
Day, I made her plant markers that will last. She's tried many different things that
didn't work. These are made from mini blinds, and a bed spring that we cut up.
The labels are vinyl labels made using a Brother PC label printer.
...This is a bigger project than I thought. Since I couldn't remember all the plants she
has, I gave her these and so I'll make more each time I visit. Oh, and she really liked them

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Mother's Day Umbrella Bouquet on: May 08, 2011 02:56:21 PM
My mum enjoyed receiving this. It hangs nicely on her front door.
It is a new umbrella, so the flowers just lift out & it can be used.
This would be a way of giving new life to a broken umbrella too.
