1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters swap? on: April 14, 2014 12:07:16 AM
They're actually ready-made figures - they're plastic with a light covering of flocking which makes them lovely and soft. The adult figures are about 4 inches tall, the children 3 inches and the babies only 1 inch! There are lots of different sets that go with them - houses, furniture, shop sets, sets of homeward items and leisure equipment... anything you could want, it's probably been made in Sylvanian form!

Here's the wikipedia page about them: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.m.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FSylvanian_Families&ei=hIVLU4-VCK6g7Aau34GYCQ&usg=AFQjCNERo5GFdK5Gt1JznHkhGeYLx5v65w&sig2=Ut0TzhrXGgZrAEqsTv-1kA
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters swap? on: April 13, 2014 12:25:40 PM

Would anyone be interested in a Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters swap? I collect them, and love making tiny little things for them so thought it would be fun to swap some of these with other people.

Clothes, customised furniture, accessories, even customised figures if anyone is feeling ambitious! There are lots of possibilities Smiley

I would be happy to be the organiser, but this would be my first time organising so if anyone would be willing to co-organise with me that would be much appreciated Smiley

I'm still here, I haven't disappeared! I've been ill so haven't been able to get onto my computer for a while, but I'm about well enough now that I'm able to get back online to check in.

Poppy arrived home safely from Australia last week. She had a very long trip, but brought back some lovely souvenirs and a beautiful scrapbook. I've really enjoyed finding out about all the exciting things she got up to - I wish I could have gone with her!

Photos to come soon!

Bean went back home today Sad. Still can't quite believe how quickly time has flown by in this swap!

My scrapbook is finished, and Bean is all packed up in her parcel ready to be sent home tomorrow. I can't quite believe it's the end of the swap already, time has just flown by in this round!
6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Little Visitor Swap Round 18 CLOSED (SU: 10/20-10/25; SO 10/29, and 3/1/14) on: February 19, 2014 12:21:53 PM
The extension works well for me, it takes the pressure off trying to get the scrapbook finished in time and means I'll be able to make it even better Smiley

All my printed photos have arrived, so I'm going to make a start on Bean's scrapbook today Smiley. It's strange to be coming to the end of this swap and thinking that I won't have Bean to travel around with me, but I think she's looking forward to going home and escaping the horrible weather we've been having here at the moment!

Time has been flying by recently and Bean and I have had hardly any time to switch my computer on and upload photos, but I've managed to find a few minutes to post and say that we're still here!

I started a new job recently, but unfortunately I can't take Bean with me to show her around as I work in a hospital pharmacy and there's a lot of confidential information around.

Last Sunday we went for a nice long walk up in the hills near home, and we had some beautiful views out to sea as we we're right by the coast. This evening Bean has been helping me with my Welsh language homework (I started learning to speak Welsh in October) - I've taught her a few phrases, most importantly how to ask for a cup of tea and a biscuit!

I always struggle deciding how many pictures to post as I'm going through this swap - I don't always manage to do one "interesting" thing each week, so don't want to post all my photos and spoil the surprise for my partner when they receive the scrapbook.

I do, however, have a bit of a backlog of photos to post at the moment - I was in London staying with family for the holidays and forgot to take the memory card reader for my camera with me, so have only just been able to upload the pictures onto my computer!

Here's a little bit of what Bean and I have been up to recently...

We celebrated Christmas, and Bean became a guest star in our knitted nativity scene Tongue

Last week we had a day out in London, visiting the Sylvanian Families shop (where I've been wanting to go since I was very little) and the V&A Museum of Childhood, then we saw some famous London landmarks (Trafalgar Square, Buckingham palace, Big Ben and the London Eye)

Today we had a quick visit to the beach, then did the Alice in Wonderland wooden sculpture trail around my town. I'd wanted to take Bean along the pier, but it was closed Sad. We'll have to try again another day!

I think my only resolution this year is to use up a big chunk of my craft stash, as I have so much stuff and not enough space to store it! I moved out of my childhood home about 9 months ago, and am only just now able to move a lot of my stuff to my new place. This includes my original craft stash, which I will be adding to the new stash of stuff I have started building up at my new house. It's like an addiction, I really need some help to stop buying and start making! Haha.
