Hi Ladies
Just posting my last bag of the year (most likely)..

My main goal in making this bag was to do the hidden vertical pocket. Without the zipper pulll, the pocket is completely hidden

I posted more pics in the purse forum

Now to go catch up!

All the recent bags posted are so great.. so creative..handpainted, customized, crochet.. talented ladies!

Here are a couple recent ones of mine

A messenger bag from a pattern I was testing for a blogger, Charmed Liebling

A backpack based on a pattern from ChrisW Designs (her Evelyn bag was popular here I think).  I modifed it to suit my son's needs

Finally got around to doing another bag.. I used a retired pattern from Michelle patterns but changed a few thngs and assembled it my own way.. had a few issues.  The pattern doesn't call for the metal eyelet handle but I had some so wanted to use it..

Haven't checked in for a while, so will have to go catch up on other's bags.

Here's a small crossbody I made.

The front and back has a full width pocket that turns into the strap.  It's slightly more complicated than a lined zipper pouch.

Tutorial for it is on the Sew, Mama, Sew blog. http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2013/04/cross-body-shoulder-bag-tutorial/

Probably no more bags for me till June.. but my next bag I want to make a backpack for my son..I have some laminated cotton on order for it. First time I'll be working with that..

She is showing it closed--see the ends? They are hinges..it sort of works on the same principal as the metal tape measure closures...imagine the hinges pointed down and the two bars at the top to open..

one bags that I make, I leave the hinges exposed sewing up the sides of the lining and leaving a small gap, then sewing the rest of the way up the sides...when you fold the top over the frame, the hinges fit snugly into the little gap...

I am curious to see how hax does it as I like this type of bag closure!

Yeah, the frame is closed in that photo.. when opened it looks like a rectangle

The tubular frame comes apart at the hinge.  There are screws to undo it.. each side gets slid into a casing you sew at the top of the bag.then you screw it back to together.. The hinges are exposed if you look at the side you'll see the metal hinge

Yes the tubular frame is the closure.. looks like this

I really like it, it holds the bag open really wide and closes snugly.. Very easy to use.. It just goes into a casing sewn on the bag.  I will post when she releases the pattern

I will be making another small crossbody next.  Need to get going on designing it..

Here's another bag I made a few weeks ago.. I was testing a pattern for Sewfearless.com  She hasn't released the pattern yet as she just had her 5th (!) baby.  She was fine with me sharing the bag I made though

It uses an internal tubular frame.. i love this bag

gozer that sunburst sling bag looks great.. can't wait to see it..

wendiek love the crochet bag.. great work

I made a somewhat simple bag.. it's one one that can be worn 3 ways..a clutch, a small crossbody when folded and a larger crossbody when unfolded.  It has removable a removable strap that can be attached at a couple different areas to accomadate this.

Folded - can use strap for crossbody, or no strap for clutch

I also figured out how to do a hidden zipper pocket which I really like.  I made a zipper pull with washi tape and dimensional glaze.. doesn't match too well though

Your purses are great , and the rivets what are they?

The rivets are those metal studs on the black band.  There are different kinds.. I used "double cap" ones that look the same on either side of material..

you punch a hole in fabric and fit the rivet and then hammer with a special tool to tighten.. I use them on straps to secure or just decorative.
