1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / something for my future husband on: March 24, 2009 06:14:45 AM
I decided to make something for my fiancé. It started out as a plain shadow box. Then felt finger puppets got involved. At first I was going to wrap it up and give it to him when he comes home from being on the road but then it was too pretty to be wrapped up and so I hung it up. Now if only I can keep it a secret long enough to surprise him when he comes home. I suck at keeping a secret.

Slide the glass out and you can play with the finger puppets.

I'm totally addicted to them now. I want to make more but I have to gather my supplies first.

Does anyone know of any printing shops in Stockholm?
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 2 more places to put things... on: June 12, 2007 11:23:58 PM
so i had the sewing itch for the last few days... and here's what i've made...

the change monster...

i made it with the intention of making it a change purse... but that's not exactly a fixed idea... maybe i'll keep my keys in it...

here is the monster from the back...

then... i had the day off on monday and decided that i really needed to make a bunnyfish...

for those of you who don't know what a bunnyfish is...
kozyndan www.kozyndan.com are the creators of the bunnyfish. i LOVE their art. for those of you in the toronto area, they're having a bunnyfish exhibit at the magic pony on queen st w starting june 28th.

here is the back of the bunnyfish...

i didn't have any plans for the bunnyfish... just thought that it would be much better with a zipper for functionality...

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / what better to make than medieval weaponary? on: November 04, 2006 03:56:54 PM
I was invited to a Battle Royale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Royale) themed party for hallowe'en and we were to bring our own weapons for our battle royale. Unfortunately my friends and I were all too busy to really arrange it, so we postponed it.
But I already had an idea for the weapon that I would bring so I went ahead and made it anyways.
...And here it is...

I crocheted the ball and chain out of 100% acrylic Bernat yarn using 5.5mm crochet hook.
The handle is made from wood.
Some people has asked why I didn't crochet the handle. My explaination is that a crocheted and stuffed handle would be kind of floppy and you really need a good solid handle to maximize its full swinging potenial.
8  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / BEHOLD! MY kitty hat! on: October 07, 2006 02:27:49 PM

I followed the pattern from Stitch 'N Bitch...
More or less the hat is the pattern from Stitch 'N Bitch...
I shortened the seed stitch areas... to 1 inch... rather than the 1 3/4 inch...
The ears are also different...

I knitted them in a round so they're like wee cat ear shapped pitas...
Then I stuffed them with a bit of fiberfill...
The side ear flaps were also not done in seed stitch...

9  CANADA / Ontario / crafters in milton on: September 19, 2006 06:15:33 PM

and i was wondering if there would be any sort of knitting circle or crafting meets happening in milton...
it would be kind of nice to knit somewhere other than my parents' living room... and get to know some new ppl...
10  CANADA / Ontario / question about costume design / wardrobe on: August 14, 2006 10:22:33 AM
i'm sorry that this is rather unrelated to crafting but i figured that i'd ask anyways...

i want to pursue something in the costume design/wardrobe area... preferably in theatre... but i really don't know where to begin...
i already have a 3 year diploma in fashion arts... and i have looked into programs offered by dalhousie and york but they both require partaking the full theatre program which i think is a bit of a waste of time...
if anyone has any sort of experience with this or is in the field... please! any advice is better than none!
