This is Foxtail from the Rowan tapestry collection.  I just cast this on today.  I was going to start the Olive branch hoodie, but this won out.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / what is a muffler??? on: December 11, 2005 04:20:48 PM
I thought a muffler was one of those tube things you put your hands in (crossed over your waist).  i see mufflers advertised now, and they just look like scarves to me!

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / baby booties (on the baby)! on: September 13, 2005 03:38:31 PM

wanted to post these as a finished project.  i made 2 sets for friends.  isn't it cute?

i would've posted the item under the recent topic, but couldn't find it!

these are UGG baby booties and hat from DIY network.

yep...they're too big, but the girl is only 8 weeks old, and it is only Sept.  She'll grow into them (crossing my fingers).

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / do you ever buy yarn?..... on: September 08, 2005 05:11:30 PM
...and not remember what project you bought it for?

i was doing an inventory of 'the stash', and i have 4 skeins of big mohair yarn that i have NO CLUE on what i was going to use it for.

i remember working with it once, and it was frustrating.

anyone else?
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / see what my husband made! on: September 05, 2005 06:35:54 AM
first time on the beading board.  normally i only post in knitting, but i had to show off some gifts that my husband made for me.  we went to the beach, and we girls normally bring a crafty project.  this year it was beading.

it was fun to see all the guys enjoy the beading even more than the girls.  they were obsessed!

husband says that he has now retired from beading now that we are home!

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / help me to interpret on: August 09, 2005 07:29:49 AM
can someone help interpret this for me?

i'm making a hat that has 112 stitches CO in seed stitch.  i'm almost to the point where i decrease, and can't understand something.

here is the first dec row:  Patt 2tog, patt 52, Patt 2tog....etc....patt to end.

what does this mean?  i think patt means pattern, but how do i do this?  if i'm doing seed stitch, do i knit 2tog, then continue in seed st?  this might be a really dumb question.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Don't try this at home :( on: August 03, 2005 06:40:26 PM
A lesson about the importance of dye lot.

This is a seed stitch scarf made with a really pretty yarn called Plain and Fancy from the Sheep and Wool co. (or something like that).

It was a good buy...each skein is over 400 yds.

One skein in, I realized I didn't have enough, and needed another.  Hence the dilemma.  The second skein is from a different dye lot.  Check it out.  To frog or not to frog?  What do you think?  I hate to do it, but it seems like there's no alternative.  On the plus side, I can use the 2 new skeins to make the scarf, and the old darker skein to make a 'matching' hat.  Sympathy?

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / who's on your christmas list? on: June 26, 2005 05:44:12 AM
Anyone already thinking about Christmas?

Who's on your list and what are you making?

I am starting hat/glove/scarf sets for about 4 people, and trying to finish a project for my husband that he's been asking for (it's taking awhile because the yarn he picked is a very small gauge, and i've ripped it out more than a few times).

So who are you making presents for?
