Completely unrelated, but I was using the same textbook as you.  *shudder*

I got it from the book, the Encyclopedia of Needlecrafts by Lucinda Ganderton and Dorothy Wood.  It's the Shetland Lace Scarf.   Wink

Grin  Thank you, everyone, for your replies.  They're very encouraging!  Also, I forgot to add, hope everyone has a super Christmas!

PurpleHeather:  Yes, I gave it to her on Saturday.  I think she liked it, so I hope she wears it...  Thanks for the needle tips!  I guess I'll have to buy a wider pair.

dr_marti:  I know I used Red Heart, but I don't know which line specifically.  It wasn't the softest yarn, for certain, but I fell in love with the colour, too. Cheesy

anneadeline:  Yeah, I agree, it is strange!  I used a 6 mm/US 10, but I suppose next time I'll have to knit with a bigger pair.  My dad wants me to knit him a simple leg warmer though, so I guess in that case, a tight knit would be good to keep warm (plus the yarn I have for him is softer).

Hi!  I made this scarf for a friend of mine for Secret Santa this year.  I got the pattern from a book my mum had given me as a child, though I adjusted the width a bit to make it more scarf-friendly.  Anyway, I'm pleased with how this turned out since it was my first time knitting (!), and I'm excited to learn new techniques!  In particular, this scarf turned out a bit tighter than I would have liked...is that a result of using too small a pair of needles?  The yarn called for a 6.00 mm, but it still seemed a bit tight.

Thank you for checking this out, and I would love feedback from you experienced knitters on tips I might use in the future!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: A really long zipper... on: May 22, 2006 12:57:05 AM

I have the lime green/white one! It's really neat. My mom got it for me somewhere in Boston while on a business trip. It's somewhat annoying though because everyone ALWAYS wants you to unzip it completely and then THEY brag about YOUR bag to other people, resulting in the other people wanting to see it completely unzipped too. Sucks for those of us who basically carry around their whole life/room in a bag.  Tongue

Gosh, I love those colours!

That's gorgeous!
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Intermediate Flower Cross-stitch Patterns (for Mother's day) on: May 12, 2006 07:56:53 PM
Does anyone know of any websites with elegant cross-stitch patterns of flowers?  Thank you!

how long is the zipper when its completely...unzipped

I dunno...maybe 2.5-3.0 m where two sides are sewn together?  It's a small purse, so if you wanted to make a bigger one, you'd probably (obviously) need a much longer zipper.

i have one of those! it's a purple and blue clutch, and i got it at the airport. the bigger ones were way expensive, but they are so much fun! is yours called zip-it or something?

No, I don't think so.  My aunt said she got it from a cheeky vendor while at the beach.

sdkjfhfdsf.
Ive been wanting one of those, but the place here that sells them isnt here anymore.
I wonder how hard they are to make.. :-(

Well, according to the post after you, there are patterns!  Anyway, I would assume the only tricky part would be to get the zipper on the "track" at either end.
