OOopps..got so excited I forgot to ask..
Did you roll up the bacon and bake it in the oven? Or did you pan fry them (obviously not super crispy) and then roll them?

These are awesome!! What a great job you've done, the chairs look so fresh and modern!
I love the colors/patterns you've chosen.
Did you use spray paint on these?
I can't decide which one is my favorite, that bright spring green is my new favorite color but the turquoise chair is stunning!
26  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: scented yarn on: May 18, 2011 04:09:30 PM
I was looking at the jo-annes (or was it ac moore?) website the other day and saw it too..
I admit I'm intrigued...but not in a good way..I imagine it's kind of like air freshener/scented toilet paper...
great in theory/not so much so in reality..

I have enough smells going on in my world, some good (baking, freshly washed husband) others not so good (cat breath, eau de' stinky husband) I don't think I want to throw scented yarn in the mix...

They do say the smell will wash out of the yarn, but I guess it may depend on WHAT it smells like, though next time I go to the craft store I'm going to sniff one just to see Undecided

28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: At long last - a crochet jacket! on: May 16, 2011 10:24:13 PM
I'm not great at crocheting either, but I love doing it (and I'm getting better...slowly.)

I LOOOVVVEEE your jacket..it's freaking incredible!!!

It has a crazed Victorian look to it, the sleeves remind me of that sweater that Mrs. Weasley wore in Harry Potter
that everyone loves. I love the black and purple(?) colors you chose and all the different textures of yarn.
It looks darling on you.
I also congratulate you on finishing a project, something that I haven't quiet managed with my crochet...yet Smiley
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Problems with yarn types on: May 15, 2011 02:30:43 PM
Hey all! I just discovered this forum (YAY!) so I may be a little late to the party..
I'm still pretty new to crochet so the first yarn I got was the cheap-o Peaches and Creme I got at Wally-world..not the greatest but I didn't want to get expensive yarn until my skills got a little better..
The yarn kept splitting on me (albeit, it was more to do with my way-too-tight beginners crochet)
the stitches always looked so mangled and messy.
Not too long after I got that yarn I saw some Lion Suede in a sale bin, the good thing was there was no yarn for me to split and I could see my stitches a little clearer but the suede almost locks itself in place and if you are still learning you need to be able to un-do it which was tough with the suede.

I had a breakthrough moment sitting on my sisters porch, trying desperately to crochet the first row of sc ..her neighbor, an older English lady who is a dead ringer for Margaret Rutherford/Miss Marple came up and started crocheting with me. She saw what I was doing and told me to "relax".  After she showed me to ease up and not do it so tight it got a lot easier!!! I am still not great but at least everything is recognizable now instead of looking like a hot nest of tangles!!!

Wow, that is beautiful...are the flowers paper(?) or silk(?) or other(?)
I'm also dying to see more of that dress..does it have a glitter bodice? What fabric is that (it's beautiful)
Was it made or bought?...
sorry I'm asking a thousand questions, I'm just intrigued.
