Here's my awesome stuff!!! (sorry i haven't posted sooner, pup is going up and down everyday and i seem to always be at the hospital. Today is actually the first day I've not been to work in over2 weeks)

MY FAVORITE is the awesome example of Brunzing and unbrunzing from TGTTM. It cracks everybody up!

I also think the images are made and printed beautifully in both my Aqua Teen Tarot cards (THE REMONSTER!!! I WANT TO SQUSH HIM!!!) and

Here's me an my [as] hat. I LOVE hats!
(had a late drinkin night last night, so this is a hangover picture. Sorry!)

and Mr. gypsey wanted to model too. (he also looks like he's been out drinkin...) I thought it looked good with all his vet wrap. And extra kudos to regansbox for including a stuffie and doggie brownies for my sick pup. He really appreciates them!

thanks for the awesome package and awesome swap!!

3  wishbone- caution, not for the faint of heart in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by meg4568 on: January 06, 2006 11:36:56 AM
So this is a painting i made based off of a very difficult experience.
Currently i work in the kennel of an animal hospital, and i absolutely LOVE it, but its not easy. Especially when really sick or injured dogs come in with animal control or even clients.
My worst experience was a Saturday, a few months ago. The story is : A woman brought in a dog that belonged to her neighbor. you can read the news article here: http://www.wtoctv.com/Global/story.asp?s=4251168, but the gist is that basically, this dog was so infested with fleas and other parasites that he scratched his own face off. No eyelids, no nose, just a horrible wreck of a dog... Which would have happened over a very extended period of time, but the owner "kept the dog in the closet" so as not to be bothered with it. The dogs name was wishbone. Someone i work with thought it would be funny if i saw it... (i tend to be really sensitive about these things) and told me to look as they pulled him up out of the blanket. At which point i clocked out, went home, cried for a few hours, and spoiled the hell out of my dogs.
It was really etched into my brain. i cant forget it at all. It really bothered me how my mind would wander to it. So i decided to finally get it down on paper to make myself feel better. Then i started thinking about a ton of things I've seen that make me feel the same way. so this may become a series. I also may sell them, or prints, and donate some proceeds to local non-profit animal agencies.

Anyways, if you think you can stomach it, here is a (tastefull) version of what i saw that day.

Any comments and critiques welcome, and i hope i didn't disturb anyone!

4  Woven portrait tapestry! (image heavy) in CHALLENGE 7 ENTRIES by meg4568 on: November 06, 2005 08:47:39 AM
This is a piece i did on a whim a while back. I took four or five pairs of jeans and tore them into strips. then i wove them onto a very large picture frame. I didn't take pictures of the process but o have 2 that i am working on so you can get an idea of what it looks like if you haven't seen it done before.

just your basic over-under-over-under.

ok, here's the actual piece. A close up portrait of my friend's eyes.

its 18x24 inches. I spent about 2 days creating the whole piece, from tearing the strips of denim to sectioning them into different shades, and then actually weaving and embellishing.
I pulled threads out of the jeans and re stitched them to add texture and depth.

and added the buttons in on the eyes as a "twinkle" in her eye.

When i did work on it i only stopped to eat and sleep. My fingers turned blue, and when i blew my nose little pieces of denim came out! I put it in an art show a while back. Since then it's just been hanging in my hallway. Its not awesomely functional like a lot of the projects, but it is nice to look at!  Soooo... enjoy!

5  Re: Show off your hair! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by meg4568 on: October 22, 2005 11:30:27 AM
Sigh... so i was like, 108 pages, someone has to have a good style for short hair..... sigh.........

anyway, here's meg with a side of squirrel:

so, its at that awkward 2-3 inches right now, and i would just buzz it off again, but i work at an animal hospital now and i have to wear scrubs everyday, and i feel like i look like i work in a crazy lab where everythings so contaminated we're not allowed to have hair.

so if anyone has good suggestions for awkwardly-short hair, i'd love to hear them!
The only thing i wont do is dye it, cuz i do love my color.
